I just want to say that I was impressed with the "Tram Car Rescue" coverage overnight. I believe the cars got stuck sometime after 5 o'clock in the evening, and the last of the 80 passengers weren't removed until 5 o'clock this morning, twelve hours later!
All the stations covered it, but FOX5 News at Ten stayed on live with Ernie Anasatos, Rosanna Scotto, and field reporters until midnight. ABC7 by far had the longest coverage, staying on with Bill Ritter, Liz Cho, Sam Champion, and field reporters live until 1 o'clock in the morning.
All other stations (2, 4, 9, 11) resumed to their regularly scheduled late night programming shortly after their newscasts ended.
An interesting thing that I saw was at one point, FOX5 had a live shot of ABC7's news desk for about 6 seconds. It was really odd to see the FOX5 logos, news heading, and then Bill Ritter and Liz Cho at the ABC7 desk in the background for around 6 seconds. How did this happen, did the signals get scrambled momentarily? It isn't something you see often any way.
