That sounds like an excellent idea to get around the burocrats. I'll have to keep it in the back of my mind when and if I need to yank in a translator for an AM somewhere. If they allow the chain move then so be it. Joke's on them.
No reason (except money) why not, as long as they keep making 3 1/8" to N female adapters.... If that translator is using an off the shelf yagi, it's a very inexpensive way to get that kind of coverage. Only gotcha is that from my experience, the yagi may spec -15db off the back, but mount it on a large tower & the null off the back may be far in excess of that. That's fine if you have a mountain off the back, but if you have a town of 10000 & the yagi specs predict a 60dbu & produces a 40dbu, then suddenly you got what you paid for.boiseengineer said:One reason they're directional is they just need to cover a narrow area.
