Translator Reception

We all know that translator reception is often very weak, but I am astounded about how bad 104.5 and 107.3 sound. Both have a great deal of difficulty being heard on a car radio through much of I-4, especially west of downtown Orlando. 107.3 cannot be heard in Kissimmee, for example. The station did a little better on FL-528, but still, I am shocked at how bad it was on the whole.

Those have been some of the worst signals in the market. But 102.5 almost makes it to Brevard. I think they broadcast in mono so that helps. I honestly think 107.3 is the worst. You have 2 100000 watt stations blasting in. You have wxgl from tampa and the station from jax. I have a question. Back in the reach fm days when 104.5 first came on in 07 sometimes there would be a 102.5 country station that would come on 104.5. Any ideas why this was? I think the station was in Georgia or South Carolina.

The country station on 102.5 you are referring is WYNR-FM 102.5 C1 Waycross, Georgia, serving Brunswick, Georgia.

I've actually heard that station OTA in ST. Augustine when I went to the Florida School For The Def and Blind. It was a pretty regular DX over there.

I remember hearing the 102.5 (Country) audio on 104.5's TX instead of Reach when I lived there back in '07 as well.. Only happened a couple of times but I do recall scanning by it and wondering what was going on.
