Translator talk

FM Talk to hit the airwaves soon....from radio insight .com

Talk “The Rock Of Talk” 1550 KIVA shifts to 1600, while Classic Hits “Cool 107.5” KRKE goes in reverse.

The move places the Talk format on the 1600 signal that operates with 10kW daytime and 175 watts at night from just south of the city. 1550 operates with 10kW daytime and just 27 watts at night, but will now be paired with the 107.5 translator (K298BK Sandia) that covers the whole city and adjacent towns.

The 107.5 translator currently has a Construction Permit to upgrade from 99 watts to 250 watts with a move to 94.5. KIVA will soon be paired with 98.9 K255AU Corrales which will operate with 99 watts from the same location as 107.5

Does that make the 107.5 positioned translator available? If so, any possible takers? Has the 107.5 translator caused any interference problems for Espanola/Santa Fe's 107.5 Outlaw Country?

Any thoughts on if the power increase and move of KRKE to 94.5 from the Crest will cause interference problems with Gallup's KKOR-FM 94.5?

Derek owner of KDSK who just bought 1240AM may get the 107.5 translator because ofhis relation ship with vanguard on various projects the last was KMINE 1510 AM which was a simulcast and a sales partnership that went bust when vanguard felt they could do better with 1510 combined with 103.7...I would NOT be surprised to see 1240AM get the 107.5 translator if possible so that it can simulcast KDSK as as they have felt KDSK would crush 98.5 if it were to get in to town and they have been trying for years to get in from Grants, they would probably do a combo sale force with Cool 94 and KDSK 107.5 and attack 98.5 from a younger demo on KDSK and an Older Demo on Cool 94... I know they have talked about how to crush 98.5 for years. I do not know if 107.5 will be available but if it is do not be surprised to see 1240 simulcast KDSK from Grants on an FM translator here in town
