TRANSLATOR W289AN 105.7 ARIAL, SC

I have noticed that translator W289AN, 13 watts on 105.7 at Arial, SC, located on the WELP-AM tower, has been granted a CP to relocate to a site between Pearson road and the J.B (Red) Owens Recreation Center. It will move to 105.9 and power will be increased to 250 watts. This translator currently rebroadcasts WLFJ-FM HD-2 which is His Radio Z, the progressive youth music channel operated by First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. This will be a great improvement over the current translator which at 13 watts, even with a good receiver, only covered at best about 3 -4 miles from the transmitter.

The change will give this translator coverage of all of the city of Easley, as well as some additional coverage of the surrounding area. They should be able to pick up some new listeners in the upper part of Anderson county near Easley, as the translator's new site is not very far from the Anderson county line.

Believe it or not, when this translator was first approved on 2/25/04, its primary (parent) station was listed as WGVC 106.3 (now WYRD) in Simpsonville.

On 3/27/07, the primary station was changed to WHRZ in Spartanburg.

When the CP was approved on 5/5/09 for the upgraded translator, the primary station was changed to WLFJ, which rebroadcasts WHRZ on HD-2. So, I can only assume they will have better quality sound by rebroadcasting the WLFJ HD-2 audio instead of WHRZ's.

Oh, I see. Well, I'll fix Wikipedia then. I had what I thought was current information.
