Is my tuner playing tricks on me or do we have a translator at 94.9 in Lexington that broadcasts the same stuff as 100kw 91.3?

It's true. There must be a translator on 94.9 for WUKY 91.3. I first noticed it like last week. It is strongest on the south end of town (Nicholasville Rd. and Harrodsburg Rd.) and fades away as I drive north on Russell Cave Rd. I lose it completely after I cross over the Interstate going north on Russell Cave.

There was a silent STA filed back in February. I'm assuming the transmitter has been repaired. The construction permit has WAXG as the rebroadcast station, however it's been changed to WAPD. they can rebroadcast any station as long as they have permission. Do not have to be owned by the entity of the rebroadcasted station.

All these translators are licensed pirates and nothing more. By the way gospel man, and you know who you are, there is no such legal station in Stanford, Ky with the calls WGRS at 95.9. You used to be at 105.9 till Burgin's FM came on the air. Got to hand it to ya, very nice signal coming from the tower that sits by your garage. You're doing big things here 15 miles away.

By definition, translators are not licensed pirates. However, building a national network with translators based on a loophole is another kettle of fish.

Back on topic, WEKU and WUKY have always had signal issues in Lexington due to the Clays Ferry antenna location (The WDKY tower didn't help WUKY) and the intermod rearing its ugly head.

This guy plays gospel. The same songs over and over. He used to sell CB stuff back in the day. I got him to set up an Eagle 2000 for me. He converted it over for me and put in a "swing kit". This radio would dead key one-half watt and swing up to forty five watts when you spoke into the D104. He knows what he's doing when it comes to broadcasting. I also bought a linear from him and I was able to shoot skip with an A99 with ease. His "radio station" has some serious punch though. I found him by scanning around on my clock radio. I knew who it was when he gave his top of the hour "id". I drove by his house and the signal was powerful. I live 10 miles away and it NEVER faded out. My JVC blended to mono a couple of times but came right back. He is not on right now but I will post when he does come back.

Unless the rules have changed, Charlie Bravo radio is limited to four watts PEP. So to quote the commandment:

-Thou shalt not cast stones at illegal operators when pumping out unauthorized wattage.
