Translators originating programming and over powered

nd2023

Banned
Houston is notorious for having translators originate programming without a source AM or HD2. There are also translators running way more than 250 watts. Even one translator with a transmitter site over 30 miles from its authorized location, well outside the coverage area of its AM.

What about 99.5? It’s supposed to be two translators north and south of Houston, but instead they have just one transmitter between the two sites

To be fair, I didn't know about 99.5's (apparently) single transmitter, when it's supposed to have 2.

Question.. Would they get in trouble for playing a wrong legal id.
104.5 continues to use kbxx hd2 at the top of the hour legal Id but they have not been on kbxx for over a year now.

You have to remember, he is a young whipper snapper who still knows what good radio and community service is all about.

Well, thanks Chuck... but i also read this board and know a few people in houston.. the same info about license vs coverage exceeding far far beyond what you think has been repeated by a ton of people, so you know.. thats a clue somethings up :)

Figured 90% of the people on this board were Gen X or older. LOL

There’s a mix of ages on these boards, which is a good thing as some of us in our mid 60s and older remember a very different radio landscape from what we experience today.

Hi, I was doing a local bandscan in order to know my local baseline, because I really want to find Sporadic E openings on FB BCB, and I ran into this 104.5 "La Caliente" translator which is not really a translator. SMH. Just like the paper license plate plague, make up your own rules... is it even worth trying to notify FCC, or just wasted effort? It's not like it's bothering me personally or anything.
