Translators too hot?

Is it me or are some of these new translators which seem to be popping up everywhere anymore too hot? I mean I compare ground coverage on a normal radio to what is on the maps, and they seem to go much farther. Like there's no way I should be picking up some of those translators in Reading, PA all the way up into Schuylkill County, but I am.

Out here in Medford, 30 miles away, I can pick up the translators for WURD 96.1 and WDAS 102.5 like locals, in fact 96.1 is stronger than many Philly main signals. They sure cover more than is shown on FCC maps. 96.1 completely wipes out cat country from the Lehigh Valley which was always a great catch. These two are the only ones out of all the Philly translators I can receive, so I think the coverage maps for the others are accurate but not these two, unless the are operating illegally...
