Translators War

How goes the FM (Translator) war in St. Augustine? The last I heard Phillips Braodcasting was getting two translators for her WFOY and WAOC but they are not yet on the air. Seems there was a battle brewing between the fromer husband and his WSOS in the market. Has anything changed in the market?

I have no idea, as I don't live there, but there used to be WFOY-FM in St Aug. I know the facility moved from 97.7 to 97.9---did WFOY sell that station? They probably could be kicking themselves, if they did.

They did, back around 1992. When I got there in 1999 the transmitter's room was used for WFCF's transmitter. The news director used the old F.M. studio for his news room.

It became part of Paxson's Jacksonville cluster, first as 70's based Star 97.9, then Smooth Jazz, then Kiss. A month or two into Kiss, it became a real Jacksonville signal. (IIRC)
