Transmitter 3 miles away, but nothing on HD-2

OK, I picked up the Accurian last week after reading that WDRC-FM was streaming deep-playlist oldies on HD-2 (which it is, and it's very, very good despite not having any artist/title data displayed), and I'm getting everything I ought to be getting except for the "classic country" HD-2 stream of WWYZ (92.5).

WWYZ's transmitter is about three miles from my front door, on the same hill that is home to the transmitters of WDRC-FM, WHCN, WKSS and WPHH, all of which have HD-2 signals I can pick up with no problem. I even get the HD-2 streams from WKCI and WTIC-FM, whose transmitters are considerably further away. Yet when I tune to 92.5 and see the "HD" symbol light up, I try to move up to the HD-2 subcarrier frequence but the radio just moves on to the vacant 92.7.

Any ideas?

Just a guess - they're probably not broadcasting the HD2 yet. The formats for all of the HD2 channels have been decided by the alliance, but not all of them are on the air yet.

It may be listed on the HD Radio website, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's on.

Yeah, I've had no trouble receiving HD2 broadcasts from MANY miles away on my Accurian, with an indoor antenna!

WTQR (Winston Salem/Greensboro) has an HD2 channel that just "went away" for more than 24 hours. Now it's back. My guess is that stations are unceremoniously taking down HD2 (and HD1) channels, then putting them back up during "tweaking", thinking that "at this stage of the game, there are so few radios that nobody will notice". WELL WE NOTICE! Not too many decades ago FM was treated this way as well! They'll get it together!

I would simply call the station and ask if there's a problem with their HD2. In my experience (so far), if I can get HD1 and an HD2 exists, I can get that too. It seems to be "all or nothing".
