Transmitter Move of Beach 95.1

WKGC-AM could use one of those translators. Heck, WKGC-AM/FM could use all of them... and I bet there's a guy down there that could get it done if funding is available.

It really wouldn't seem right for WDIZ to grab one.

Tibbs2, I don't think it's Hale. He has a (fairly) full-market FM now in PC (93.5). It pretty much picks up where his 100.3 drops out on the west end of PCB.

Is that hippie surf rock oldies AM station still on the air or was that just a long "stunt" to fill time while the owners tried to figure out what to do with the station? Any music AM station would benefit greatly from one of Panama City's unused translators.

At least those translators are already licensed to PC. No one has gotten a translator on the air in Pensacola... yet. 103.3 seems to have it's ducks lined up, but it ain't on the air. The three or so others moving to Pensacola are still stuck in purgatory.

Trop Rock 1290 WPCF is still on the air, last time I checked. Don bought a translator a few months back to rebroadcast PCF, but as of now it's not on the air (there was a CP to move to a different frequency). That's one AM that could definitely benefit from a translator, because they're 500 watts day and flea power nights. John Gay could also really use a translator for WLTG (1430) as well. But I don't see that happening any time soon. My opinion, of course, your results may vary.

Is there still any meat left on that old AM news/talker? Panama City's had WYOO forever and now with WFLF-FM I'd think 1430 is just a piece of burnt toast. Of course, if WLTG got hold of a translator they could flip to another format instead of trying to compete with WYOO and WFLF with only 250 watts...
Panama City has so damn many radio stations that it seems the best use for any translators would be by non-com WKGC. Of course WKGC would have to have some funds in the budget to expand their offerings... they may have already spent everything upgrading the FM to HD and the AM to 5kw.

The previous GM at KGC dropped the ball big time on the translator deal....they had the equipment in house (brand new) for 2 translators (at least one was to go in Marianna).....didn't get them built before the CPs ran out.....equipment was auctioned off as "surplus" for pennies on the dollar.....what a f**kin loooooser

I worked at WLTG in 1982-83 when their calls were WWWQ (3WQ) and they shared a building with WPFM. (They were the original WPCF; when they changed calls, the old WGNE - I think - became WPCF and flipped to a Christian format with the slogan "We Put Christ First"). 3WQ was flipping from AC to country but of course they could never put a dent in PAP's listenership. ( I do remember Reed Kinney, Pap's morning guy, coming to our station and helping with a xmtr issue when our engineer was out of town.)
I got canned after a year when Jim Broaddus sold 3WQ and WPFM to Culpepper out of Texas.
