Brad Johnson ('jhill') was an engineer with poor work ethic and blamed everything that happened to him on others, mostly his employers. I was working on the air at Citadel when they fired him and brought in a new guy with a good reputation. Suddenly, stuff that had been broken for MONTHS was getting fixed. I heard horror stories about rats and bugs at the AM site and the filth that Brad left behind. Brad didn't maintain the stations! Heck, our AM was only putting out a fraction of its licensed power. Then, Brad blamed everything on management, etc. We were off the air so much, it became a staff joke. The replacement engineer made 100% difference in our sound and our reliability, almost instantly.
Don't get me wrong, I am not against Brad. I just want to point out the obvious. He is NOT a victim! He brought it all on himself, and blamed everyone else.
BTW, I heard from my friend at Clear Channel that CC fired him because he slammed the C.E. Steve Mitchel publicly and published some VERY private stuff about Steve's family online. How to you blast your boss in public and not expect some kind of punishment?? Besides, CC has a strict drug policy and Brad's website used to advertise the fact that he and Sandy sold pot. Give me a break!
The transmitter sites from hell website is so out of date it is pathetic. What really gets me steamed is- Doesn't he have anything nice to say about ANY station other than his LPFM at his house? I worked for several stations he mentions on his website and they were not all bad.
As for access to transmitter sites... Why pay a bundle to pave a highway when only one person ever travels that road? It makes no financial sense. If I remember correctly, Citadel provided a vehicle to their engineer for his use anyway. So, if they provide the car, what do you care what the road is like?
Has any station that fired Brad regretted it later? Nope.
