WECK. 3.4 12 plus! BAM

WBUF 2.7 Total joke. Good job on the automation.

WLKK. why bother.

Wyrk. 7.1. Going down the toilet

WBEN. #1

WNED AND WBFO. WECK beats them both

WBLK. Incredible time spent listening

WEDG. Down. Bankruptcy again could not even help.

That station has a 50,000 watt signal, Wall Street pockets, atleast a 10 year history and you do not think it’s a joke that WECK continually beats them, and beating their clock?

Here is the reality. Weck is locally owned, been oldies for one year, has a 1k AM SIGNAL the primarily covers just Erie County, has 2 small FM translators , markets itself, has live on air people 6a to 12mid, and out-bills WBUF. AND WE BARELY COVER NIAGARA COUNTY!!

You don’t think that’s a joke?.. these powerhouse stations should be ashamed of the inroads Weck is making in them. When I purchase a Buffalo cluster, working on that now, we will teach corporate how to bring back relevant local radio

When all is said and done, everyone will want to work for WECK. Because we have a local radio vision, while the other companies file bankruptcy to survive, or slash and burn to create more revenue. Pathetic.

Buddy, check your headings. (12+, 18-49 and 18-34...which is it?). WBEN is likely #1 persons, 12+ but certainly not #1 persons, 18-34 or 18-49. That's probably WBLK in your second post.

That's not what I said. There are a LOT of stations beating Jack. Many beating it more than WECK is. But those stations cost more to run than 92.9 does. Take that into consideration.

When all is said and done, everyone will want to work for WECK.

Just not as a news director...

All of the stations bearing jack are great signals, cover Erica and Niagara County and have Wall Street packets. WECK is the only one that does not. We are also beating LLK, KB, WBFO, WNED, and coming close to many others. And WECK signal is primarily just Erie County. Pretty impressive. Also, WECK is not looking for news directors.

This is only data from a trend, not a full book. It's true that 92.9 is a great signal with unimpressive ratings. They've decided it's not worth the cost & effort to try to do better.
The age old "Cost vs ROI" argument. Garbage In = Garbage Out.

Buddy is good at puffery. Is posting this ratings data an attempt to impress potential clients? What percentage of WECK listeners are under 55? Maybe 10 percent?
They should be commended for finding advertisers who want to reach 55-75 year old demos. The ratings for WECK are decent and he's probably charging his clients fair rates. By comparison, ALT Buffalo is virtually commercial free and still has no ratings!

Buddy has stated that he will buy a full power FM. Now, he's getting a whole cluster.! In "The Godfather", Moe Greene said to Michael Corleone -- "You don't buy me out - I buy you out".
Remember how that turned out for Moe...

Puffery? What a ****ing idiot. Out of the 5 people on this board, I can guarantee zero are my clients. The percentage of WECK listeners under 55 are ZERO!! I want that! Why don't you just admit the station is now way better, and I am a good leader? You can't admit that! It's incredible. Let's remember how that turned out for Moe....let's remember how your career turned out for you. You troll this board because you want to be in radio, you want to be relevant, you want to be in my shoes, but you can't because all you do is see glass half empty. Why don't you tell us what your real name is tbolt? I do! I am not afraid. The 4 share will come, and the 5 share will come. Get ready, *******. When you can tell us your real name, then I will respect you, until then, whatever you say is as a washed up broadcast person who wishes he were in my spot everyday.

Why does Buddy constantly seek praise and validation on a Radio forum? He rails against Corporate Radio ineptitude and bankruptcies. Only Buddy can save them and fix everything. No wonder some of his former employees ran for the hills the way he hurls insults. He has a chip on his shoulder the size of Mount Rushmore.

I agree that formats aimed at 55-72 year olds can be viable. WECK is successfully reaching a niche. I've said that in the past. The ratings history doesn't suggest that a 5 share is forthcoming. That really shouldn't matter anyway and wouldn't change the station demographics. It still can succeed. Too bad the owner emulates a current classless President...

Buddy.

Take this as your final warning. Stop abusing others on this website.
The next time I ban you, it will be forever.
Heed the warning!

This is only data from a trend, not a full book.

A trend has exactly the same sample size as a book. The difference is that full weighting on all stratification variables is not in effect because there is not, generally, a precise proportional sample on all demos since each trend is 2 parts one book and 1 part the other.

But the trends are a fairly good indicator of movement in a market, even with the considerable wobble we know exists in trends.

In any case, the new diary system supposedly starting next month will make each monthly a full, weighted and as-close-as-possible proportional sample.

Guess Buddy didn't heed Frank's warning...

In all seriousness he's really done some good stuff with that 1kW stick. I would love to have the opportunity he has.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of listening comes from the translators. Were I to venture a guess, I'd probably be thinking in the 70% to 80% zone.

One might describe Mr. Ostrander's OP as "jactation." As many an experienced programmer has said, "One trend does not a book make." Some stations may have had a great January, (which was dropped when April was added) followed by a modest February, a decent March and a weak April; or a good February and March, but a lousy April. One month. It happens. Do the breakouts. A lot can change in May and June. Magic 8 Ball sez... "Best to not uncork the Dom until early July."

Is there any meaningful correlation between all these shares & QH's & stuff, and actual Net Income? For example, is WBEN's Net Income double that of WKSE? I bet not.

Ratings are used as a tool to sell advertising (and for bragging rights on radio boards...). There's no *direct* correlation but stations with better ratings *generally* bill more.

It's been my experience that numbers are just a tool. The real work is done by the salesman. I've seen great salesmen make a lot with bad ratings, as well as the opposite.
