Trend out today

In the basement (12+):
KRLD - 1.8
Lonestar - 1.8
Live 105.3 - 1.6
The Twister - 1.4

Gavin is doing a bang up job there at KRLD & KLLI isn't he?

I thought Citadel was going to do a quick fix in DFW - why am I still hearing the Twister?

KTFW has jumped up to 0.9

I wonder if KRLD is fixable with the losing base ball? I thought that extending their afternoon news coverage would have helped a bit.

I don't think KTFW has ever done that well!

Lonestar is really the same station that ZPS was. The small difference is that the focus lies more on so called "Texas Rock". IF zps went real AAA, it would be interesting.

Isn't it interesting that a trend comes out and what is the first thing someone posts? How horrible this or that station is doing.
Hey, how about how GREAT some stations are doing: KLUV holding at number two in the market, poised to slide up to number one soon...or how well KLTY keeps doing...the nice numbers for the Ticket...K104 continuing to kick butt...
I guess it's more fun to see the negative in the world vs the positive.

Wait until that PPM crap comes here. No telling who will #1, but from the way things are looking, it won't be K104.

I have to concur with Steve on this. I was a bit surprised to see the first post alone in this thread had no positive remarks.

Come on people, where's the positive spirit ???

You want positive? Okay. Mix beat the Edge, Jack & MOViN...

If all radio sucks, then why would you have any interest in it at all?...if you think there needs to be improvement, then DO SOMETHING...

I think Lima Beans suck...but I don't go on a Lima Beans website and proceed to bash.

Well Robert - that's a darn good thing because those of us over on the Lima Bean Blog are a pretty sesitive group.

I think Melissa was speaking facetiously and making fun of all those posters who seem to talk about nothing but how bad radio is.

I have to agree with you that it's a shame more people don't accentuate the positive. However, I can also see the other side, which is that many of these people want something that's not presently offered. You're far more likely to see a change at the bottom of the ratings than at the top. It may not be likely that they'll get what they want, but the possibility of change gives them hope.

Do you really expect to hear Jody Dean on Channel 11 news say 'and in other top stories, toilets continue to flush and roads continue to be driven on'...?

No, because sewer systems working and roads not collapsing isn't "news".

Just like KLUV, KLTY, KTCK and K104 doing well isn't news. I don't have a problem with apost looking at the negative, because that's where the 'news' is, and that's where the changes are likely to take place.

You're comparing TV news to a message board. Apples to Oranges.

You're missing the spirit of the analogy.
Steve E. is wondering why nobody is commenting on KLUV, KTCK, K104, etc doing well. Duh. Because that's not "news".

Oh sure, maybe if you work for one of those stations, or in direct competition to one of them it's news that KLUV is #2, almost #1, but is that really 'news' to anybody who is paying attention?

What is newsworthy, or at least attention grabbing, is the fact of how low some stations have sunk, kind of a how low can you go kind of thing....To me THAT is much more newsworthy...

Because, for example, Twister is at a 1.4. To me, that is much more interesting/newsworthy than that KLUV is #2. Because it raises the question of how long a Citadel (in that case) will put up with anemic ratings. And practically non existent revenues.

My point, which obviously sailed straight over your head, is that just as the news doesn't report the blindingly obvious (like toilets working), I don't have any problem with someone not commenting on the blindingly obvious.

After all, we're talking about 2 marconi WINNERS, the heritage oldies and the heritage urban in town, and they all did well...Really...Who would have thought THAT was possible ::) ::) ::)

Again, that's not NEWS. That's not out of the ordinary. What is news is just how low some stations have sunk. Just how much the SUCK. Which is why people want to comment on the negative, rather than the postive...
