Coyote #14 But in the Xtraps they took almost half of KWNR. Yikes!
Interesting months are ahead!

Jack on!

Keep in mind Coyote was commercial free, clutter free, didn't have their jock lineup yet, and ran a ton of TV. Plus country listeners had the excitement of a new country station to sample. With that combinaton nobody should be surprised Coyote had a good first month or ends up having a good first book. Instant success was a given, the question is will they be able to maintain it or not? It's 6 months or a year down the road that will truly be interesting in the country battle.

As for you Vegas Jack, enjoy your success. A few other stations had the option of going Variety Hits when the format was open, they took a pass and now are paying the price.

Mix is a Hot AC, right? Well if they are, then they are continuing to do very well, even with Jack in town. I assume they have a very loyal audience and lots of listeners. Hats off to Jack though for still doing very well.

Two battles to concentrate on: Mix and Jack plus KWNR and Coyote!

Like I've said before on this board, keep us out of towners informed :)

As always Jay F takes a look at the big picture...Congrats to Coyote on their first month...As Jay says the first book could turn out to be quite impressive. However, since their initial blast of uncluttered, non-commercial country music they, in my opinion, have deteriorated and quickly at that. Blame it on bland jocks and, to me, it seems the music rotations are different. The battle will no doubt be interesting, however, I don't believe that KWNR has much to worry about.

JACK and MIX are co-owned Infinity stations. I would guess the two stations take some caution not to overlap with each other. It appears to be working as JACK has hurt 80s STAR and classic hits the POINT, while MIX is still strong.

It was good while it lasted

KNEWS is no more. Delisted. Along with sixth-string AMs like "High Definition Talk" and the perennial paytoilets KLAV and KSHP. KXNT and KDWN battle it out - so much crap on the AM band, so little accomplished.
