Trend

I thought I'd post my thoughts on the trend and seek other opinions as well.

The first thing that caught my eye was that KS, although pretty much flat, is still about the same as last trend, and no longer in top 5. I wonder if the first month of these trends (last month of Summer book) is holding them up there. Or once the full book comes out will they drop more? This is just weird to me because I know KS has been almost always #1 or #2 and is consistently top 3.

KOA is still on their growth trend, which is great for a non-election year with a station like that. It probably helps that they have their fairly decent Sports lean too. That, I'm sure, helps them fill the gaps in slow political times - not to say right now would be slow necessarily. LOL

KBCO is top 5 and KBPI can't seem to stop growing as they're up about a point in the last year. I don't listen to them, but that's a nice steady growth pattern. It's much better than just jumping up, and then taking a harder hit.

KEZW making a small comeback and breaking back into the Top 10.

Mix is about flat and Alice took a small hit. I wonder how the book will end up for Alice. I've been listening more since their new PD got in. I do think the station sounds better (musically and branding/imaging-wise). The station has REALLY taken the "female radio" thing to the next level. Some of their sweepers are extremely and blatantly female - which is the goal, so congrats to them for not being soft about. SIDE NOTE: Charese's station in Vegas (KMXB) is taking a slow nose dive. I guess the replacement PD, Justin Chase, didn't learn enough from her, and apparently she wasn't just winning by default as many on Radio-Info had suggested.

A couple quick notes to wrap this up: The Mountain continues is steady decline. Mega was flat with the 3rd month of the Summer book dragging them down. Their new music changes at the beginning of the Fall book are keeping their monthlies decent. It'll be interesting to see their full book.

Lastly, AM 760 is still slowly growing, and Jammin' was flipped at a great time. LOL - DOWN DOWN DOWN!

Share your thoughts.

P.S. Denver needs a GOOD Pop station badly! Kiss FM from Ft. Collins showed up in the 12+ ratings for the first time! That's amazing!

Mega probably took away some of the KS Hispanic audience. Since KS is the only station playing (English language) rhythmic product in Denver, I would expect them to rebound.

They are one of the few remaining top 10 standards stations in the U.S. Very unusual in this day and age.

Concerning your side note. One major thing in Vegas has changed since Charese left KMXB. CBS flipped a station to JACK (one of KMXBs sister stations). While KMXB has not been the main casualty (a couple of other stations have REALLY been hurt by JACK), Mix has been impacted to some degree. So I wouldn't blame Justin, it's JACK.

Speaking of which, will the Denver (or should I say FT Collins) JACK ever rebound to it's peak numbers.Or will it never see those ratings again?

Oh yes, you are right. I forgot about Jack there. Thanks for the reminder. That makes a little more sense.

I don't know. I check out Jack once every couple of days. It's personally not my fave (I'm too young for this station) but I would like to see it do well. I'm waiting for a TRUE example of a broad-playlist station doing well.

Alice's PD is highly overrated. Out of the 30 radio stations in Vegas only 2 cater to the 25-54 female....KSNE (AC) and her old station The Mix. Even I could have gotten a 6-share 12+. She won by default in Vegas. She won't have it that easy in Denver.
