Trend

Prediction

The WOLF will fall....BIG TIME!

(..and who the hell is DialTwisty?....I'm not it folks...)

KJR-FM flat.
Movin' UP.
Wolf Up.
The End Up.
Jack Down.
KMPS Down.
KBSG flat.
KISW flat
Kiss down.
KUBE Up.
KIRO Up.
KOMO flat.
Warm Up.

Spirit... number one.

Who did I miss? Ahhh, who cares. It's just a @#$%ing TREND. Unweighted and frankly unimportant. Although, I'm sure Movin' will extra out a monthly number that they can use for the next "Number 1 in Seattle" quote on an All Access ad.

No one knows until Friday, I can't believe that people here are wasting time 'predicting' ratings. As if 12+ matters?

Uhh, I'm talking about P25-54.

You're right, 12+ doesn't matter.

True, no ad agency or advertiser bases their buys on 12+, but it's usually a pretty decent indicator of how a station's doing. If you're pulling a strong 12+ number chances are you're doing well in whatever your target demo is. Often a station will not look great 12+ and do well in their target (Star comes to mind) but it's rare that a station goes 12+ number goes down and they have a great book. All I'm saying is, it's not a totally meaningless number.

12+ is really not a good indicator. KUBE is number one, but isn't even top ten in billing and falls short in key demos. STAR, as mentioned, KZOK and others rarely hit the top ten in 12+, but typically are top of the pack in the key demos that matter and are top 10 in billing every year. MOVIN and JACK are examples of stations that also may not do well 12+, but rock in the demos that count.

So neither Adults 18-34 or 18-49 where KUBE leads the pack are key demos? If they have billing issues it's a result of "Less Is More" and baggage from a hip-hop format, not ratings. By the way, Movin' doesn't "rock" any demos yet; they have one strong month to hang their hat on and that's it. They still have a long way to go to prove themselves as a serious contender...not saying it won't happen but it hasn't yet.

Never question Mamma. Let's see, as I bring up Maximizer, hmmmm. Yep KZOK in the top five in men last four books, hmmmmm STAR top five women last four books. Both look marginal 12+. Now let me check the media guide. hmmmmm number one demo for advertisers 25-54 adults, followed by 25-54 women, followed by 25-54 men. hmmmmmm. Now let me open up Miller Kaplan, what's this? KZOK and STAR top ten billers??? Imagine that. Guess my examples weren't bad after all.

Wait!!! Let me check KUBE in the Miller Kaplan, whoops, not there in the top tier, let me check KBKS, whoops, not there. Hey there's KMTT, they don't do well 12+, oh wait they are up on top with KMPS 25-54 adults on a four-book.

My point is 12+ makes no difference when it comes to 25-54 success. MOVIN and JACK are not targeting in on 12+ because it doesn't matter, they want 25-54 success, same with the WOLF. Mamma Really Does Know Best when it comes to ignoring 12+.

QUIT YER WHINING

Summer don't matter anyway....

It's the FALL and SPRING numbers that PLAY or PAY professors...

Here's an idea:
Make a new thread with the true results on Friday....
..shut some posters up....

If only you could sense the irony in your post, dialtwisty.

Keep up the good work. We have a pool here on where the next End banner will be. We have some serious money rolling here. Our kids college education is riding on this, it's the difference between Shoreline Community College and Stanford.

For this we salute you, Mr. Plastic Banner Hanger Monitoring Man.

The ratings are IN!

Movin did SQUAT!

Wolf ate the competition!

Can't wait to hear the spin and double speak, let it rip propagandists!

Menace, what are you talking about... "ratings are in" these are trends. What shows on todays trends, could be complete opposite on next months trends.

Again, trends. But Movin' really didn't show much improvement, the Wolf dropped a bit, and KMPS is getting some of their numbers back. KNDD up a bit 18-34, KPLZ did pretty decent 25-54. KUBE/KCMS down a tad.

Again trends, could be a completely different story next month.

Who would? Posts on a radio message board guessing ratings are just that. Even if you're 100% right on those guess for ten years, what do you get? A lot of wasted time talking to AM board ops and a few listener radio geeks. But hey, at least none of them question you. ;)

Right on Dustin Dude. Whatever ills KBKS has, Marcus D will get fixed.
Whether the morning show stays or goes is his call. My bet is they finish their contract. The show is now being called Jackie, Bender, Jubel and Sami for a reason, a team effort. Let's move on. A lot of posts for a station that is not top ten 12+ or 25-54. Give KISS some peace.

Yes, marketing. The same people with a new spin, it's called promotion.

I don't know if I agree on your Marcus D fix. There have been some interesting tweaks, but it's going to take more than that. IMO, they need new middays, a stronger traffic person for the new afternoon jock to interact with, and I swear they have one girl voice tracking the overnights and weekends using 5 different names! The Nighttime Playas are super local while KBKS' night show is myspace this/myspace that. KUBE has people like DJ Supasam, Karen Wild and Harrison Wood that sound good filling in for anyone, which is another thing KBKS is missing. I'm surprised Supasam hasn't jumped to a bigger market, really. KISS should grab Bobby O. and put him somewhere, the man is a promotional machine.

I'd love to see a good CHR fight, but you're right. A lot of posts for a station that's not top ten. It's time for my chamomile tea anyway.

Of course nobody targets 12+. You totally missed my original point: that stations doing well 12+ are usually doing well in their target as well so it's not a totally meaningless number. By the way, if you were really looking at Miller Kaplan you'd know that they only show you billing numbers for your own station relative to the rest of the market; it tells what the station above and below you did but not who they are. At the end of the year, stations will share information with each other so they can compile a ranking of everyone's total billing in the market but as of right now, you have no idea what KUBE is billing in 2006 unless you work for CC.
