Trend

The top 5 stations are all urban oriented. Incredible numbers for WHRK and WHAL. I still think 98.9 gave up too fast with the smooth jazz format. Another adult oriented urban format would probably work in Memphis.

KIM and Snap were both flat.

Kind of sad that MFS is below a 1 share. You'd think there would be some audience for what they play.

"WHAT??

Are you saying that even with the genious programming of the "Director of Rhythym" Brad Carson...SNAP remains flat? ???

I am a"Pauled" at such a thing.

I agree about smooth jazz even though it wasn't put together as well as many i have heard it was pleasant to have.... the original WJZF in Atlanta being my favorite.

Dang it, Meep! You beat me to it!

I'll do it anyway:

SNAP is flat, but I still stand in awe of the programming genious that is Brad Carson...

Yeah, the urbs really dominated the trends..WHRK had an outstanding share..I haven't seen that sharepoint in this market in a really long time..
Interesting though, WRBO trends are way up..I never would've imagined. It has to be the Grizzles coverage. The Harvey morning show isn't hitting on nothing..
WLOK seems to be holding tight.
Poor FM 100- It's an uphill battle for them..I personally like the station but I've secretly observed that people that use to listen that station have lost interest in radio altogether and have jumped over to paid for programming.. aka- satellite radio.
As for Kim- not much I can say, just looks like she's not doing anything right now.
AND FINALLY..Snap-The ads and tv hype doesn't seem to be paying off yet. If Yummy expects Snap to be number one by next Fall, Winter, or whatever..Good luck. To bring a 1 share up to an 8 or 9 share in less than a year, would be nothing short of a miracle..The proclaimed programming genious needs to stay off the boards and do some serious strategizing.

As a radio listener, i'm amazed the ratings are flat and not way down! what a horrible station with horrible on air people. They should have just left the Buzz or at least left Kidd Kraddick. That show is waaaaay better than the thing they have now which I don't even consider a true AM show.

I know this isn't the Jackson Tn Board... I've been blasted for that before... but..

Urban, in general dominates the Jackson Market as well... 96Kix is always number one... with an Urban Gospel station not far behind...

So Urban is a trend that even Semi-Rural Areas are being taken by

I am wondering, exactly when is the next great conference call, to discuss the great success of Snap, Cracked and Brad?
It seems like it's about time for this after seeing the impressive numbers...

WWBD???

I glanced at the Jackson's numbers a while back, just out of curiosity and that Urb station you mentioned J-Rod practically has the town on lock, but I don't really think Urban music is a trend that could be tied down to any rural, suburban, or metropolitan area..Just boils down to an individuals taste & what zip codes the diaries fall. It is a fact that Urban formats do very well in the south. Memphis, Atlanta, Nashville, and Birmingham all have strong Urban presence according to Arbitron.

Oh yeah... I know... the "dirty South" is very popula...

anyway... It just has always amazed me that the most urban station in the Market, has a such a small southern market wrapped up like it does.

you would think, that if not a country, a hit music station.. that played urban and some pop and rock could takt the urban down... I know of one station that could if it was managed right..

but I'll drop this now, It's the Memphis board... not Jackson...
