Trends:Sunny,KOMP,and KXNT biggest gainers

KSNE had the biggest gain of any station. Since SUNNY had a big phase 2 and will almost certainly have a huge phase 3 (Christmas music), they have to be the favorite for being the #1 station for Fall 2005. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up in double digits in women 25-54 and women 35-64.

KOMP was the second biggest gainer. They have made a nice comeback from their unusually low Summer share. They could see even further gains as the "Rock N Roll Morning show" should pick up some former Howard Stern listeners.

KXNT had the third highest gain. They reached their highest level in years. My guess is that some of the former 104.3 standards listeners switched to KXNT as well as KSNE. Speaking of standards, congratulations to the new 104.7 KJUL for showing up. I think they picked just about the only format that could pull any numbers with that signal.

One thing I noticed is that for the first time ever, ALL of the Clear Channel and CBS FMs are in the top 10. Since KXNT is also in the top 10, the two big companies have never been so dominant. The only two stations not owned by CC or CBS in the top 10 are Univision's KISF(#3 tie) and Lotus's KOMP(#10 tie).

AREA 108 had a disappointing first trend. Although it's way to early to judge since they are just starting to get their airstaff together and they are still making music adjustments (for the better IMO). I'm sure everyone would agree that boosting the signal is most important for AREA, they will never be any kind of a factor otherwise.

Oppps....Jay you forgot Jack was #2(25-54) right behind KWNR this month!

I was mentioning the biggest overall gainers from the phase 1 Fall trend to phase 2. Most of the huge growth JACK has experienced took place before the recent trend, although the station continues to grow. You can't accuse me of being anti-Jack (not that you were), as I have had a ton of posts recognizing how good they are doing. Even months before 100.5 made the switch, I said someone in the market should go JACK.

As for who will be #1 25-54 for the fall? At first glance it appears KKJJ will take it when KWNR drops off it's double digit September. But, don't underestimate how HUGE Christmas music is for SUNNY each December, plus they had a good November leading into it. Also, I take it JACK had a better September (the month that's going bye bye) than SUNNY did. If you combine all those elements, I predict KSNE will be #1.
