Two stations that I would have expected to peak, inched up even higher this trend...KXNT and JACK.

The biggest surprise to me is 104.7 KJUL. Obviously, it's all older demos. But I'm still surprised a signal that horrific (it makes AREA 108 sound loud and clear in comparison) can pull that high of a share. KJUL actually beat both KKLZ and the POINT 12+.

Yes, that's what I expected to happen when LITE switched to JACK. Then when the country share became fragmented, it made it all the easier for SUNNY to be #1.

I expect that SUNNY could be #1 for years to come. First of all, they are a solid station with a staff that's been there for years. Unlike some other ACs across the country, they don't try to be too hot or hard. Also, these days nobody switches to AC. I never ever hear of stations switching to Soft AC, no matter how good the heritage station is doing. For example in NYC, WLTW (LITE FM) is #1 with an obcene share (for NY standards) yet nobody will take them on. I guess it's not "fun" to go AC. Oh well, I'm sure SUNNY will have fun being #1.

I was told (I haven't done the math myself) that Coyote and Star both had a 6.1 January extrap 25-54.

Is that true about Star...is it being reborn???

I noticed that STAR's numbers were at their worst when they were playing lot's of "lost 80s" songs. For awhile, Star was playing as many "Oh Wow" type songs as JACK.

Early this year STAR tightened up the music and became more conservative. They are back to playing the burned out big hits they have pounded for years. It appears this strategy has paid off as they had a good trend. However Arbitron discourages extraps, too many flukey things can happen in an isolated month. The 3 month rolling average is more reliable.
