Looks like KWNR is back to where they were pre-Coyote. Also KXNT and Jack look strong.
Will KDWN go up against KXNT?

Interesting sidebar: KRGT, jus two months into a new format, beat KWID in 12+ by a factor of more than 2 to 1 in May extraps.

Here's what I think are the top 3 stories of the trend:

1. KWNR is back at #1 for the first time since pre-COYOTE. Anyone who thought they wouldn't be #1 again with competition was wrong.

2. Record high for KXNT, they are even doing decent 25-54. They may go up another half a share if KDWN goes sports.

3.Record low for EXTREME. They are still bleeding from losing Stern. However they are still doing better than their counterparts across the country that switched to the Hot Talk "FREE FM" format.

Two surprises: Hot 97.5 was dropping off an excellent month so I thought they would go down, instead they went up a little. STAR was dropping off a terrible month so I thought they might go up this trend, but they did not. Will adding 90s to their mix eventually help or not?

I like how Star sounds musically...im just surprised they dont go with 1 seven or 8 minute stopset per hour instead of 5 songs in a row---they could hurt Jack and Mix if they played more music...I do miss the days of tv spots and strong radio promotions...in todays corporate world, they just don't understand that the old saying is still true---you have to spend money to make money.
Since one ratings point is worth a million dollars in revenue, you would THINK owners would promote their stations properly.
While I am enjoying retirement, I applaud those who can manage to stay in this crazy buisiness. I know I couldn't afford to go back because they pay scales are so low these days. Best of luck to all.

I just CANT listen to Sunny anymore...Eddie Money, take me home tonight...Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield...yuck! I HATE IT! My doc, chiropractor, hair stylist cant listen to them at work anymore---its either KOOL which at least I can stomach, or boring smooth Jazz....KJUL tried going younger years ago with horrible results...Is history repeating itself or what? And when will KKLZ change formats...I just can't listen without Dan Lea...its just not the same! Besides, they are getting sandwiched by Lotus. Give it up already! How long before Xtreme gives it up?(although billing is still good there---expect a format change early next year) right after an awful fall book comes back!

What competition? KCYE has been lame from the start. Not that KWNR is all that great, but KCYE was just a bump in the road.
