Sorry, but I can only lead a horse to water... ;)

WRDU (7th overall) now has nearly double WPTF's rating. WPTF finished 12th. Boy, are they hurting.
I am shocked anyone thought WPTF could weather this. Having a "good news department" isn't going to really help much in the end. Would not surprise me to see them keep falling. With all of the big names on a better quality signal (yes, because it's on FM), 1061 is naturally going to do much, much better.

I told another person who post here almost two years ago that WRDU should go to talk, and it's paying off, now
#7 in the Raleigh/Durham market, but it's sad about WPTF, i wonder if they ought to explore going FM sometime?

I guess it would also not surprise (as much as we all would hate to see it) if said "good news department" was eventually gutted by WPTF.

Kabrich, your thoughts?

WPTF and WSJS are quickly learning about life after Rush! It is something that has been talked about for years. At one time, they both could have survived it, but Dave Ramsey is not the one to do it.

If they were my stations, I would move LeMay to mid-day with a good producer/sidekick, simulcast him on PTF and SJS and concentrate on the issues from the North Carolina perspective. Rush's audience is available of you give them a better alternative.

Congratulations to QDR (monster trend) and G105!

Not everyone is listening to what passes as "interesting" talk in Raleigh. If I wanted that, I'd hang out at my barber shop with the scent of Clubman talc lingering in the air.

Dave Ramsey is a smart guy, but once you've listened to it for an hour, you've heard it all. Listen for two hours, and you've heard it twice.

Glenn Beck was a lousy Morning Zoo jock and is even more inane as a talk show host. It's scary what goes National these days.

Rush is a great actor (DJ?) who literally has 100 people writing his "ad libs". He's not that smart.

Sean Hannity used to sell cars on cable TV in Fayetteville, didn't he? He could...and should.

Click & Clack, the car guys on NPR, now that's a show!!

I would say Rush (and Glenn, and Sean) are a lot smarter that those of us sitting around chatting on this board! Whatdja think?

No, I don't agree with that. But, I respect your self analysis.

Mike implied those on this board were less smart than Rush. Sean, and Glenn.
I just don't agree. They beat down the same topics every day. Never anything fresh.

It's not even politics, because those guys are performers NOT elected officials.

In Boadcasting or not, Mike is one of the most professional people I have have ever worked with. I am fortunate to have worked with him in the 80's, and learned a wealth of info from him. A true Broadcaster with a passion for radio, something I can truly say is lacking these days. A lot of younger broadcastes could take a hint or two from Mike and be better for it!

Maybe as businessmen and money-makers. That doesn't make you a success at being a human being. IMO.

Nobody's questioned Mike's history. This thread is about Ratings that somehow turned into a discussion about syndicated
talk radio. No great local programming accomplishment there.

I like the smell of yellow Clubman in the bottle. Once I found out what it was--my barber would put it in another bottle--I bought it and I've been using it as aftershave ever since..
