Tri-Cities Book

I'm surprised to see (or maybe, not see) any posts regarding the latest Tri-Cities book. WXBQ is still number one, but what's with 'TFM (with no PD) going to number two? Is Citadel holding 'QUT that far back that they've dropped to number three? WGOC is showing some great numbers, but what's with Electric? I'm not in the market anymore, but I still like to keep up with what's going on.Crossman

The thing wrong with Electric is you have the same person programming it. No new ideas and unfortunately the remaining decent staff are being pulled down with him. I mean they have the same voice guy they had before when he was the PD. The same promotions. A lot of the same non hit songs. They need Reed to PD the station. At least he could bring some fresh and new ideas to a sinking radio station. Next ratings will probably go up because honestly, I can't think they could do any worse. But, personally that station is over. It will never be back the way it was unless they do some major programming changes. Stevie "B"

It seems to me as if maybe Electric has been rode hard and hung up wet. They just can't seem to beat any more life into that dead horse. No matter what they try it falls flat. It's really just a waste of a good stick at this point.

True. When 94.9 was back in Greeneville as WOFM/WIKQ, there was nothing special about it and it appeared there was never gonna be anything special about it. When Bristol got it and decided to move the 99.3 format on it, I thought "there's something that will challenge the big three." Boy, was I wrong. Right now, it's getting numbers, whereas when it was in Greeneville, it never got any. But it's not much better now. And it's a shame, too. When Blake was in Knoxville, I heard he was programming 95.7, and the time I heard it, I thought it was the absolute best sounding Top 40 station since WRJZ back in the late 70s/early 80s. But apparently he can't make Electric sound that good. Blake is a friend, as are most of the Electric personnel, but it's like they're stuck in neutral. All I can say is "Put it in Drive, tromp it to the floor and get some goodie out of it." The bottom is not a real nice place to be.

Step one: Remove Bruce Clark from the buildingStep two: Get Pete to remove the leashStep three: Make SURE Bruce is out of the stateStep four: Try A FRESH start, new liners, sweepers, i.d.s, and leave the talent to do what it's supposed toStep five: Don't Micromanage!

GB has no clue how to program a radio station anymore. I know first hand along with my buddy in Greenville. GB is more interested in finding out what people are saying about him around the building, or what rumours people have to tell him. If he put a quarter of that energy into programming he still would be where he is. That's because you can't teach an old dog new tricks. The whole station and the way it's run is ridiculous, and that's why they continuously go downwards in the ratings. Another thing that's upsetting is that they will eventually blame the airstaff for the poor ratings. That's wrong in itself. They need to get rid of the problem at the source. Since I was fired from there a year and a half ago, they have gone from 3 or 4th 12+ to 8th in the market. Way to go Gary!!! Maybe you can make it 9th this upcoming ratings period! Can't imagine they can get much worse!

Would Bristol Broadcasting consider these moves?Move Super Talk to the Electric Signal? It's the No. 1 talk station in town now if you combine it with the AM and a larger signal would only boost ratings.Realize what market you're in and that the format of "HOT AC" is simply not going to go. Instead- program another format- soft rock- classic rock- challenge WGOC with an FM Classic Country on an FM signal- Go to an 80s or even religious format.

I thought that's why they bought the Newport stations...so they could move the 92.9 frequency to the Tri-Cities. Move Electric back to 99.3...they weren't trying to outdo Star 102.1 back then, and they sounded a lot better. Maybe that's what it was...Blake was locally programming 95.7 in Knoxville back then, and now he's trying to regionally program Electric, and he just can't do it. Go back to locally programming a station, and he might just do fine. Stevie B, good to be seeing your posts on here. I came in at Bristol during your last days. I hope you're doing well. I'm in Eastern North Carolina these days after my successful run at BBC was ended when they brought Gunner back in. They haven't done as well since. Give me an e-mail sometime and let me know how you're doing. [email protected].
