Tri-Cities Ratings

I might be looking a bit too much at this but-

A-What happened to WAEZ? Are they broadcasting crickets chirping now or something?

For that matter, WKOS?

B- A station I think that is growing is WKIN- or at least as much as it can with its signal. They have no signal, but the predominantly all-sports format is slowly but surely getting an audience.

But is that hurting WJCW? Add up the Super Talk numbers on FM and AM and they are beating WJCW.

C- Why has WXIS gained a ratings point over a year? Or the alternative stations growing over the last book and every so slightly over the past year?

D- What happened to Power Talk?

E- Is Satan Worship catching with the gospel stations taking a hit?

F- I don't know if it's a trend, but why has WKPT suddenly received a bit of a boost? Are there THAT MANY Indianapolis Colts fans?

Nope, there are no Colts fans in East TN at all. They're all Peyton Manning fans, and if he wound up in Oakland, guess what. All those so called "Colts" fans would become Raider fans over night.

The COLTS belong in Baltimore, that's where they're tradition of actually winning championships actually is.

Could it be,just maybe, perhaps, that there are OLDIES fans out here in the Tri-Cities who appreciate songs being played on the radio that are indeed older than 1976????You do realize that WKPT has switched to an OLDIES format, right; amd a change takes a lil time to crystalize?

No- but to be honest- they would be best served by scrapping music altogether and entering the talk wars.

Though Scott Gray (is he still there?) would last about two seconds if he was hosting a daily show.

> How bout' this: Maybe Holston Valley changed antenna patterns to more omni-
directional(like it used to be) it would make a difference. I remember a time in the 70's, 1590 WJSO went head to head with WETB. JSO' had a cool signal into nearby Greene County(it was blastin'on the school bus radio circa 1975-79),Ya know, Disco was the thing then. duh? It's hard to hear now for some reason. I
know, I know, times have changed.......

Would have to be live local talk programming.....management wants to have too much garbage on air to make a slick sophisticated interesting nationally syndicated talker work on WKPT.

Or maybe this...Change calls back to WJSO and serve Jonesborough..

"WKPT Radio Network" moniker off of it and make it a good oldies AM.
If WSM in Nashville can survive with classic country(yes, It's 50kw,so what),
then why not 5000kw with oldies if it's done right. The "Mighty 1090" can't
seem to stay on the air more than 5 minutes at a time. Remember: technical
standards?.....'JSO was once a cool station in these parts....
