Triad CC HD stations

Anyone with an HD radio know if the Clear Channel Triad stations are broadcast their new HD-2 formats yet? I checked out the Clear Channel music site and saw that the stations are now streaming, but didn't know if they were actually broadcasting.

We heard WGBT-HD2 and WFMX-HD2 (forget that WMKS noise) from Brush Mountain in Blacksburg, VA.

Throughout 2005 we heard CC-G experimenting with HD on WTQR and WGBT (back when it was the beat). The sound was completely different between the two. 'GBT's HD sounded like someone was sitting on the speaker; 'TQR's HD sounded incredible. It blended from FM-Mono (multipath + out-of-market) to Stereo to HD1 and the sound just kept getting wider and wider and brighter and brighter. Plus, there was hardly any artifacting.

Not to mention that CC-G had a *really* good jazz format going for a while on WTQR's test HD2. Real stuff, late 40s bop-era through 70s fusion, none of that smooth jazz/hold music drivel. Glad to see they clearchanelled-up and went with something predictable for their real HD2 format. :p

Yes, GSO CC Stations are broadcasting in HD. Both HD-1 and HD-2. The HD-2 stations are streaming from the station web sites if you don't have an HD Radio.

TQR's "really good jazz format" was actually thier chief engineer being able to play whatever he wanted while working out the bugs. They should let him format the rest of 'em...

Go Ted! He's got the taste to do good jazz! Maybe they'll let him keep it!

I've only had a chance to sample WMKS's HD-2 channel (called KISS-2 Funk)--- via the streaming player online--- but CC-G's HD stations are on the air. Any word on when CC-Raleigh's HD-2 channels will be up and running? I am especially curious about the HD-2 channel on WRDU since it became "106.1 The Rooster"...

Before the format flip, the plan was to air a "deep rock tracks' format on WRDU-HD2. It would be nice if they brought back the 106-1 RDU branding on the HD2 with this or some sort of rock format not available on the dial currently, the way the oldies format that was jettisoned from WCBS-FM 101.1/New York City's main channel is aired on their HD2.
