Tribune Bankruptcy-KTLA?

For the moment, at least, Tribune has sufficient cash to maintain regular business operations. You have to imagine, though, that business is going to be anything but "regular." KTLA, it is reported, generates more revenue than almost any other Tribune TV station. But with the news operation, union overhead and the expenses involved in competing in market #2, I'd guess they're operating at or maybe even slightly below "break-even" these days.

Business "as usual" for Sam Zell and Randy Michaels is cost cutting and pink slips.

Here's the quote from RBR I based my comment on:

"...the Q&A...also said there will be no layoffs resulting from the Chapter 11 filing. “This filing is about our debt, not our operations,” it stated."

You can take it at face value or not.

When they state that, and you work there, RUN to the unemployment office.

That's what I hate about "rumor control" by the suits -- a rumor about something bad goes around, the suits say either that it is false or nothing would happen, and "POOF" -- the rumor magically comes true, negating what the suits say.

When the suits say nothing to a rumor, you're just fine, when they come out and deny it, you're in trouble.
