Well since things between NBC and Pax fell apart earlier this year, NBC is likely looking to connect with other stations. Perhaps NBC affiliates in some markets might partner with some non-Tribune WB affiliates, like NBC affiliates partnered with Pax affiliates? In Detroit I'd like to see WDIV partner with WDWB/20, seeing as at the moment the Detroit market only has THREE choices for local televised news (WJBK, WDIV, WXYZ). It would be WDWB (formerly WXON)'s first newscast in a very long time.
In Cleveland, this would be the perfect opportunity for WKYC to put an Akron newscast back on the air (not just on cable), on WBNX/55. It has been discussed before that WBNX is highly unlikely to have a newscast due to its ownership, but you never know.
In Philadelphia, didn't WPHL have news before WTXF (Fox 29, formerly WTAF), which started its news operation in 1986?
