Tribune drops the ax at KSWB

The news department at KSWB in San Diego is closing down. No word on when their final day of news will be. Their newscasts will then be produced by KSND.

The axe has also fallen at the Tribune station in Philadelphia. WPHL's newsroom will shut down December 10. From there, WCAU will produce WPHL's 10:00 newscast.

I spoke to Lynda Martin last Friday night at a local fundraiser and she was rather glum when I was praising the station.

So now KNSD is going to be producing their own newscasts for their flagship station NBC 7/39, then for their new Spanish station on UHF channel 41 or 43 (can't remember which) and KSWB.

Sad.

The Spanish station is on Channel 43. Anyways, I wonder why doesn't KTLA produce the 10pm news on KSWB, hell, they already produce the morning news on 5/69, might as well keep it somewhat in house.

The SD Union Tribune has done a story about the KSWB handover...
