Tribune gets out of syndication business

And I'm thinking Soul Train's future may only rest on two words: Program Partners (who syndicates Merv Griffin's Crosswords)!

Soul Train's future

I don't think a company like Program Partners would go for a show that has not much mileage left. Either, I see the show going away at the end of the year, or move to a syndicator like ROLE Entertainment (which is linked to the show's original pre-Tribune syndicator).

Just out of curiousity, who will distribute the following shows:

-South Park
-Family Feud
-DIC Kids Network [E/I]

South Park and Family Feud are now entirely distributed by Debmar/Mercury.

DIC Kids may get picked up by MGM. Possibly.

Soul Train (from what I've heard) is looking at closing up shop altogether or sign on with another syndie. It's basically up to Don Cornelius.

Though, the time frame for a decision is extremely CLOSE. Probably will have an answer at NATPE.

UPDATE: It appears that Trifecta Entertainment is going to keep the "Soul Train" chugging for a bit longer, as its logo was reportedly seen at the end of a "Best Of Soul Train" episode.

Someone at Wikipedia mentioned that 20th Television is now distributing South Park to stations, instead of D-M. Is this true?

Even though I grew up son Soul Train, its time has passed. Its kinda sad to see the Best of Soul Train. Did Soul Train end producing new episodes. The a-list R&B acts avoided going on the show, and so have the b,c and d-list R&B acts. I remember one original show had 3 acts I had never heard of in my life. Just pull the plug Don. Soul Train is no longer relevant.

Soul Train ended production on new episodes in 2006. The show has produced over 1,100 episodes, so "Best Of Soul Train" is the only way to keep ST rolling for a new generation as well as those who grew up watching with Don and his ever-changing afro.

D-M and 20th Television co-distribute South Park and Family Feud.

Debmar-Mercury syndicates "South Park." 20th Television now handles advertising sales for the show. The same holds true with "Family Feud." That's why the 20th TV logo is at the end of each of those shows.

Soul Train?

Why?

Agree.

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the classic Soul Train episodes. Maybe PBS affiliates could run classic Soul Train episodes, the same way they've run classic Lawrence Welk for the past 20 years!!!!!

What about the Dreamworks package?

I remember the Dreamworks logo on the tribtv.com website. Tribune was supposed to distribute movies from Dreamworks! With Tribune gone, which syndicator will air Dreamworks movies NOW?

Trifecta Entertainment & Media has been handling the distribution and ad sales for the Dreamworks movie package since Tribune closed. However, it is not listed on Trifecta's web site (neither is "Soul Train").
