Tribune Re-Ups With THIS TV, Adding New York Station

And these station groups are in the long run, despite MGM's poor financial state, possible bankruptcy, and/or sale. Will Weigel go alone if MGM needs to sell off some assets?

Apparently, Nielsen will start recoginzing This TV. Maybe This could produce some primetime programming....

Now that they have momentum they might have the freedom to get catalog films from other studios rather easily if MGM ends up souring a bit. Lord knows that some of these deals with AMC and the pay channels aren't doing much for the catalog films at all (though TCM is pretty safe on keeping most all of their deals).

Oh, please, we already have something exactly like that - it's called TV LAND!

In Chicago, Weigel has MeTV (classic comedy) & MeToo (classic drama). That's our version of TV Land. Weigel even started up MeTV in Milwaukee when they acquired WJJA Racine/Milwaukee, & changed the call letters to WBME. I have yet to see the Milwaukee version of MeTV, but I doubt it comes close to Chicago's original MeTV.

While THIS is cracking 85% market saturation, the .2 Network has yet to appear anywhere.

With "This", RTV and other subchannel networks making inroads in markets of all sizes, I have a feeling that .2's ship has sailed.

With subchannels not being available for all cable and satellite providers, along with the fact that networks like MyNetworkTV (which is WAY more available than ThisTV) producing very little primetime programming, I have a good feeling that THIS is very far away from producing their own programming. I can definitely see more quality syndicated shows in the future though...

Channel 2's ThisTV, for example, on Wednesday delivered Nielsens in excess of 0.4 in certain demos... That's better than some cable channels manage to do in prime time, let alone in the wee small hours of the morning (pre-6 a.m.), when ThisTV airs the old shows.

Misleading statement. Everybody knows a major number of basic cable networks are in full infomercial mode at that time of the day.

I wonder if KPRC will try and stick the "Dr. Phil" show that it's sitting on somewhere in the middle of the ThisTV lineup...
