Tribune renews Fox Affiliation contract

This must mean Tribune seems sure the Sinclair deal is a no-go.

Yeah, this is getting quite muddled. Tribune and Sinclair can't own two major affiliates in Seattle (KOMO and KCPQ). So Trib renews? Something is going down here, and it likely isn't going to be pretty. And where does it leave Fox?

Fox wants NFL markets and Seattle is one but St. Louis no NFL team at the moment and Chiefs AFC team but could take My Network TV from Meredith and put Decades,Heroes and Icons on it as a Sub Channel in KC and leave WDAF ones the same and KCTV5 can turn KSMOTV into Independent channel.

Isn’t Fox buying KCPQ outright? They’re going after markets with an NFC presence.

Yes, that is the last report. So now that I think about this, the KCPQ renewal is just for the interim to take advantage of the NFC contract with the NFL this season. Duh! Sorry I missed that. The NFL is right on our doorstep again...time flies.

As part of the Sinclair-Tribune merger, Sinclair was to spin several stations to Fox. Now that Tribune has pulled out of the deal with Sinclair, it's all presumably up in the air.

Fox is already buying three Tribune stations (Sacramento, San Diego and Seattle) and renewing affiliations with the others. The CW in Miami is now obviously staying on WSFL with Fox staying on WSVN.

Is this in print or officially announced by Fox or Tribune or your opinion?
Seen a lot of speculation but no official word (in Print on line) on Fox buying anything from Tribune.

I, too, am wondering about these previous agreements. My guess is there is language written in to allow for these type of contingencies, (as in the deal is not completed). So where does this leave the Fox previous agreement of buying Trib stations? I don't think anyone has a clear answer at this point.

The purchases were official, announced May 9. But I see now it’s in question because of the merger being canceled. The status of the two Miami stations is presumptive.
