Tribune to buy Local TV

The buyout also keeps CBS closer so that CBS doesn't move The CW to WLNY and KCAL.
This was never an issue. Tribune had KTLA & WPIX as CW affiliates since the network's launch & it will remain that way. The fact that CBS owns Indies in NYC & LA is irrelevant & besides the point
Unless you think CBS wants to turn the CW into its own version of MyNet, or even if you think Tribune doesn't even want any more of the CW.

Any evidence of either?

When has "evidence" stopped these boards before?

Tribune announced today that they will be spinning off their newspapers into a separate company. Looks like they have decided the future lies with the tv stations and not the printed word.
Of course, some might argue it doesn't lie with either...

Fine point, but since you're the one who brought it up....
