Tribute to a Legend!

Did anyone happen to catch that amazing tribute to the one and only "Flyin" Brian Douglas yesterday! What an inspirational story that gives true meaning to the phrase "radio genius"!

Truthfully though, and I can already hear the fury typing away at their mighty keyboards...does anyone have a wireless one?....what an absolute suck fest! First I will say, it is an amazing story that Brian has been in radio, at the same station no less, for 20 years, and he has done amazing things. Huge props there...huge props! Get the hell out of here with the whole Grover, Holly, and Frisch's girl stroking him off all afternoon...and with those "surprise" call in's from Nick Lachey, The Fray, etc. That just made for bad radio...but somehow all of Cincinnati will eat it up! Maybe it is me being jealous...I don't know! My closest brush with Brian is when I was downtown one evening having dinner and Brian wisked his way through the crowd wearing a beret and what seemed to be a cape...maybe like the "Phantom of the Radio"! I just wish I would have been able to recreate that story in such a memorable fashion as the story that was told yesterday afternoon about when the "Q Crew" interviewed The Fray! The group seemed to remember it so vividly, as I will yesterday afternoons show...while I was throwing up in my mouth!

No one is comparing his accomplishments...I actually gave him huge props, and Chipster had an opinion about his own on air tastes! I just don't see the point of having that "staged" on air gang bang! "Like, I couldn't believe when i answered like, the phone and it was like, Nick Lachey asking for, like Brian..."- of course you could believe it, you knew he was calling, and you didn't answer the phone, a producer did!

Q102 is a music driven station, it's great for Brian that he's been around for so long, but what does he actually do that's so amazing. It's no different than the jocks on KISS, MIX or WARM, they are secondary to the music.

Were you serious about him wearing a cape? The reason that I ask that is because I saw Brian Douglas at Bar Cincinnati back around 2000 and he WAS in fact wearing a cape!!!!! I thought it was some sort of costume, but if you are serious that you also saw him in a cape I would find that quite hystarical.

Was this the same night at Bar that I saw Puddin', Fish, and StormBennett.com dressed as the Three Musketeers?? Those silly Kiss jocks....what memories!

Funny thing is Fish & Puddin were no where near Cincinnati that night....not in 2000 in anyway.

And Fish and Puddin aren't here now...but that is beside the point. Somebody Scream!
All of you keep pointing to Brian's tenure which has nothing to do with the line of BJ's he was receiving the other night. Everyone knows that radio is theatre of the mind...dude...but, the majority of listeners don't know or care if he has been there 20, 17, 23, or 14 years. It doesn't register in their heads that way.

Also, I would be happy to show you my resume...I actually have it tatooed on my ass. I am getting ready to change it though because I have know been in radio for 27 years. I have no idea how they will change a 6 to a 7...maybe I will jsut have them cover it up with a dragon.

Listeners really don't care about that stuff. They want to hear the hits. I have to give him props for managing to stick it out considering all of Q102s versions...Killer Q, All the hits without the rap, etc. It's hard to fight your way through all that turmoil. He does a decent job, although he sounds like he's too cool for the room sometimes.

Fish is indeed not there, but making a few bucks doing voice overs and working for a little CC station that is going to be sold! You might here me on Showtime or some other networks and on the new Grand Theft Auto PSP game. So what I am saying is I am not taking much stock in radio and putting more into the vo thing, which is paying off and much more secure. Got to give Brian props though, god knows I have not been able to do it! What's up Tito? I will say that pretty much everyone I worked with and met in Cincy were wonderfull people.

FISH?!!!!! What's up? Good to see you are still trolling through Cincinnati.

Bender! Back in my hometown of Marion, IL still working for CC for now. Doing voice overs on the side, actually radio has become the side gig. People are not interested in my rambling. We need to get in touch. Now can we get back to Brian? lol.
