TRIBUTE TO TX STATE NETWORK'S PORTER RANDALL SUNDAY

Porter Randall spent 30 years with TSN, 1941-71, and was known as the "Paul Harvey of the Southwest." On Sunday night's "Hi-Fi Club," we're replaying the long-lost 22-min tribute piece KFJZ-Fort Worth put together to honor Randall when he passed away this week in 1971 at age 56. Go to www.thehificlub.net for times and streaming info.

BTW, anyone hear TSN news this morning? WONDERFUL story to wake up to, talking about a S Texas inmate who was caught with a cellphone...stuffed up his _____. The "newscaster" said it was found in the 'nether regions of his anatomy.' I bet Porter rolled a few times in his grave after that one.

Wow! Porter Randall. I can distinctly remember sitting at the kitchen table every morning while I was in elementary school . . . eating a bowl of cereal and listening to Porter Randall from 7:30-7:45 on KFJZ. Looking forward to the broadcast tomorrow, Mike.

I would never take anything away from Porter. My Dad was even the News Director of TSN/Continental and KFJZ during the 'heyday'-but if there was one man that WAS the Texas State Network it was the great John Moncrief.

DAMMIT!!!! Wrong show is running...so no Porter Randall tribute tonight. Sorry, guys...I have no control over that. We'll have to play it Nov 30, as next Sunday the 23rd (barring any issues at the station) we'll play the "Lost JFK Tapes" from KXOL-1360, a reprisal from 2006.

They give us the time gratis, so I can't really gripe about it...so, in the immortal words of the Blues Brothers, "Whatd'ya want for nothin'......Rrrrrrrrrrrrubber Biscuit?"

;D
