TRICITIES MARKET STATIONS

Can anyone confirm that 93.5 WAXM in Norton, VA is considered part of the Tri Cities market? It appears so according to... http://charts.mediaguide.com/panels/Country.html. There are so many stations in that BFE area around the VA/KY line, they should have their own market. WAXM is a 50,000 watt station and surprisingly doesn't show up on the TriCities ratings although I believe it's because they are so far up there in the boonbocks, they don't cover the whole TriCities very well. Just judging from what I've heard from people in the area, there's one "big" station in every little town or group of towns that EVERYONE there listens to, such as WJNV in Jonesville, although they don't have the power that WAXM does.

WAXM has shown up in the Tri-Cities book before, but it's been quite some time since that's happened. I guess that's just where the diaries land. You said Norton, and I thought they were licensed to Big Stone Gap.

I heard that station yesterday while working the "other job." I thought I landed on FM 94 but it was WAXM. I was very impressed at the music programming considering it's a "new" country station, very, very impressed actually, mainly due to the lack of "pop country." I got to looking them up on the internet and I found that they moved from Big Stone Gap to Norton a few years ago. As much as a fan I am of WIVK, it seems odd they would show up so strong in the TriCities book and WAXM not at all... especially when you consider I tested those stations out in the car today (in JC) and WAXM comes in better than WIVK. I think it's definitely where the books land and I don't believe they land up there in the VA/KY boondocks.
