Trivia Question

There is another thread on this board about the new Fox series New Girl which
brought a question to mind.

New Girl stars Zooey Deschanel. For several years her sister Emily has starred in
Bones, also on Fox.

When is the last time (if ever) that two sisters starred in two different prime-time shows
on the same network at the same time? Has it ever even happened on different networks
at the same time?

Based on the reviews of New Girl that are being posted I don't suspect this oddity will last very long.

How about when Dick Clark hosted that primetime game show for CBS - technically, he's been on ABC for years, so even though the show was aired during the summer, wouldn't that be considered a loophole?

Dick Clark was also doing "American Bandstand" on ABC and
"Dick Clark's Live Wednesday" on NBC in 1978.

Two sisters who appeared on different primetime shows in the
same calendar year, but not in the same season: Ann Prentiss
on "Captain Nice" (January-August 1967) and sister Paula on
"He & She" (the 1967-68 season).

Also, there was a mother-daughter combination in the late '60s:
Sheila MacRae as Alice Kramden on "The Jackie Gleason Show"
and daughter Meredith as Billie Jo on "Petticoat Junction." Interestingly,
both shows were canceled the same year: 1970.

I did come up with one pair of sisters who were on
shows simultaneously, but I had to dig back to the
'50s: Audrey Meadows as Alice Kramden, and sister
Jayne as a panelist on "I've Got A Secret" before she
and Steve Allen moved to California.

There have been a few brother combinations, most
notably the Van Dyke boys: Dick on "The Dick Van
Dyke Show" and Jerry on "My Mother The Car" (also,
Dick on "Diagnosis Murder" and Jerry on "Coach").

In the 1961-62 season Jerry Mathers was on "Leave
It To Beaver," while brother Jimmy played Robert Sterling's
son on the short-lived sitcom "Ichabod And Me."

Among nonperformers there have been the Narz boys,
Jack and Jim (Jim is better known to you as Tom Kennedy);
in 1963 Jack was hosting "Seven Keys" while Jim/Tom did
"You Don't Say!". In the '70s Jack had "Concentration" and
"Now You See It," while Jim/Tom did "Name That Tune."

Also, the Gumbels: Bryant and Greg, Bryant on the "Today"
show and Greg on various sports programs.

Nice find on the Audrey and Jane Meadows combination!
I should have thought of that one.

Lest we forget "The $10,000 Pyramid" on CBS and the later 1980s "$25,000 Pyramid", also on CBS, which were shown at the same time Clark did Bandstand on ABC.

Was there any crossover in years between Helen Hunt on "Mad About You" and Bonnie Hunt's show(s) on ABC or CBS? That would probably be the closest thing to the current situation with the Deschanel sisters.
