TRN and Nutrition Market.com

Could someone explain why Talk Radio Network runs so many ads for NutritionMarket.com during many of its shows? They'll open and end each segment with these ads, or at least open with them. Weekend shows like Science Fantastic and Monica Crowley and Barry Farber have enough NutritionMarket.com ads that they consume more than 3 minutes per hour when added up. These ads have been running for 5 months. That's a lot of money to pay, which makes me believe TRN has a stake in this website.

There is one arrangment that is often used when a radio company can't sell out the ad-time. They air a commercial free of charge. The commercial has a phone number that is identify the callers as radio listeners and the company is paid a fee for every caller.

I thought TRN had it's own sales force that was going to change the way radio is sold. At least that's what mark Masters had said.

I don't think that they're PI spots. There is no phone number and no special website like nutritionmarket.com/trn. It's just nutritionmarket.com. I think livingfruitvirus might be on to something in thinking that TRN has a stake in the site.

I guess 9 minutes 20 seconds of barter inventory per hour on weekends is their idea of change.

Their show clock isn't very good either. They break each hour into 5 segments, which is bad enough, but the last break before the TOH 1:10 at 58:50 is a hard 3:00 local at 48:00. So somewhere between that and the BOH 4:00 local, they have to squeeze a floating 3:00 net into that 14 minute window. Often times the hosts wait too long, and execute the net 3:00 around 43:00 or 44:00, so segment 4 is tiny because they have to break at 48:00. The 5th segment is always 7 minutes 50 seconds long because it's between two hard breaks.

After going to the website this is all I could find on their "Who We Are" page:

Jackie, Charlie and John partnered with Talk Radio Network, TRN, to grow this business and expand their passion for health and fitness. TRN has 6 of the top 10 shows in the country, with a regular weekly radio audience of 60+ million. Using this platform of the greatest radio syndicators in the world, we aim to provide the best products at the best prices and coupled with the best information on living better.

Normally I wouldn't make a whole thread for one advertiser, but if you listen to TRN weekend shows they run these :15-:25 second Nutritionmarket.com ads up to 10 times an hour on the network. That's just ridiculous.

I'll take nutrition maret or any other ad campaign in place of Monica Crowley anyday! That woman is an absolute waste of air time. No wonder she was booted out of a daily program!!!!

I guess Masters makes some money off of Savage but the rest of the shows are on second tier Salem owned talk stations that struggle to reach a 1 share nationally. Also, although most of their shows are rev shares with the hosts (host makes less money on the front end but gets a cut of the advertising if certain projections are made) I have a feeling Masters is operating in the red. I could be wrong though...but doubt it.
