Troopo Last Night... 4-20-08

I Am From Around The Boston Area But Last Night I Was In Sandown NH And I Was Able To Recive Stations From Northern Maine, Cape Cod, Rhode Island, CT, VT, and Norhthern New hampshire. all of the stations were 100 to 300 miles away. it occured at 10:30 PM On The Night Of 4-20-08. The Stations Included: WKPE, WQCB, WCTK, And Many Others. I Am Supprised About WKPE Since It Is A Weak Station. I Also Recieved A Station From Cananda, Country 94 I Believe But That Was Awhile Back.

Conditions to Maine and New Brunswick are still quite good now, and I expect they'll get even better later on tonight.

I was in Taunton this Morning ( 5:30 AM ) and I pick up Kiss 94.5 ( Dont know where this station is ) Loud and Clear . I thought Clear channel was doing a stupid Joke , so I checkout Kiss 108 and it was still lame Kiss , so I switch back to 94.5 and lame Jamn was back on with static .

You caught 94.5 WKSQ Ellsworth/Bangor, ME. Unlike most of CC's other Kisses, WKSQ is AC.

This Afternoon I Was Able To Get Pixy 103 Out Of Cape Cod I Only Caught The DJ Saying Your Listening To Pixy 103 And The Begining Of Keep On Rocking Me Baby Then It Faded Out And WBLM Came In Again. Also I Heard WODS And WMCM Battling Against Each Other On The Highway This Afternoon Around The Same Time.

Saturday evening I was in the western part of the state and I was clearly hearing the Washington Nationals radio broadcast on 1500AM. However, I could not get the Sox on AM or FM for about a 15 mile stretch of the pike!

Heard Cat Country 98.1 (New Bedford) throughout the Merrimack Valley (inc. downtown Lawrence) like a daytimer on 4/22 between 7A-10A...went to a meeting and it was still good after 1:30 PM into Haverhill and Southern NH. Sort of refreshing. Weather conditions were very hazy here during that time - does that play into it?

You can tell it's tropo time when Rhode Island and Cape Cod stations are actually coming in on my Sony Walkman, which usually has a hard time getting anything but the Prudential stations and their intermod here in Somerville.

A couple of weeks ago, around 8pm-ish, I was travelling through Marlboro, MA along Route 20. Had the radio on SCAN and it stopped at 99.9 which I thought was a strange frequency for that area. I don't recall the song but it ended soon after and Mr. Syndicated Stuff for Your Life, JOHN TESH himself, came on to take me to a newsbreak on 99.9 WQRC which is in Barnstable/Hyannis on Cape Cod.

Normally, I would immediately tune Tesh out and hit SCAN again but decided to stick with the station (it was a WQRC newsbreak anyway, not Tesh spouting his stuff) to see how long it would last. Didn't take long. Within half a mile, there was lots of static. Another half mile and they were gone. Poof!

By the way, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought former Red Sox radio analyst Jerry Trupiano had come back. ;D

WQRC is normally a regular catch on a good radio closer to Boston and the coast, but I guess not usually that far inland to the northwest.
