FYI: Thursday will be the 13th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew.

Tropical Depression Twelve Advisory Number 2
Statement as of 11:00 PM EDT on August 23, 2005
...Tropical depression gradually organizing and moving slowly
northwestward...
...Tropical storm watch issued for portions of the Florida Keys and
Florida East Coast...

This is my excuse to mention that my web site, Hurricane Info On South Florida Radio, lists the AM & FM stations that carry hurricane cverage of TV stations. Plus a list of NOAA stations.

Missed it by That Much...

> FYI: Thursday will be the 13th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew.<

MIAMI -- Thirteen years ago today, Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida, becoming the costliest hurricane in U.S. history.
The Category 5 storm hit Florida on Aug. 24, 1992, causing catastrophic damage in south Miami-Dade County. Naranja, Perrine, Cutler Ridge and Homestead were among the hardest hit areas. The storm killed 15 people.

Andrew caused nearly $25 billion in damage in Florida and Louisiana.

Anyone have relatives who lived down their during the storm? My grandparents did, but didn't get the brunt of the storm. They aren't afraid of hurricanes and have experienced some pretty dangerous storms.

Interesting, so pretty much every radio station has storm coverage? Not a bad thing though.
______________

In Broward, we didn't have it nearly as bad as south Dade.

Lost a huge tree branch. Caused minor damage.

I'm AMAZED! WKAT is ACTUALLY BREAKING FORMAT AND COVERING THE STORM...and they're not doing a half-bad job. Maybe they really want to be a NEWS/talk station after all?!?

Yup, kudos to them for competing as much as they can with WIOD. It seems like they don't have a simulcast partner. They are doing a good job with Art Riley anchoring. Their stream is also coming in loud and clear: http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia-live/swn/8210/20_swn-20_wkat_0305_050323.asx

Check that....seems like CBS4 is their partner.
Edited by CapeFish on 08/25/05 07:37 PM.

WFOR in Michigan

Speaking of which, a Michigander was able to catch some of WFOR's Katrina coverage -- not over the net, but on his TV. According to the Michigan Buzzboard ( http://mibuzzboard.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5529 ), WFOR's signal was interfering with Detroit's WDIV ch.4.

Maybe this is because Katrina helped Tv and radio signals go farther?

Re: WFOR in Michigan

It's a phenomenon known as e-Skip which happens sporadically. See the DX board for more.
______________
