Tropo alert for the Gulf coast this weekend

Since this seems to be a year where the atmosphere is skipping out on E Skip :(, I guess we have to focus on tropo.

According to the forecast maps, there could be some good tropo openings near the Gulf coast Saturday and Sunday.

What gave me a clue to check the maps in the first place was when our local weatherman said there will be 'stagnant' air on top of us from a large high pressure system.

The tropo was working fine around 9 Am this morning in Canton GA when somebody was seriously messing up 92.9 WZGC only 30 miles away. Could not get an ID but several times either a religious or country station hijacked my car radio.

The tropo forecast isn't looking as good as it did yesterday but there's not a cloud in the sky here all day and that's extremely unusual for the summer here in central Florida

That means we have some very strong high pressure sitting on top of us which should be great for tropo.

So far, nothing to write home about.

Was out of town this week, and drove I-75 south of Tampa on Tuesday; on my car radio was 102.1 the Wave outta Santa Rosa Beach, and also Lite Mix 99.9 (Mobile I assume?).....not bad a'tall.

The actual conditions last weekend turned out to be nothing like what had been originally forecasted.

All I got was strong signals from Orlando stations but that's nothing at all to write home about, as I can always get at least a trace of them even under the worst conditions.

Getting good signals from Orlando or Ft. Myers is only tropo enhancement.

And I'm really disappointed that I went the whole month of June without even one FM E Skip catch. That's a first. :(
