Tropo here in Long Island

Am getting some stations from southern New England and southern NJ. WWLI is coming in over Power 105. That's pretty impressive considering here in Nassau county Power 105 comes in strong.

Where in Nassau weere you? Ner the north shore? One thing I have noticed is tropo (generally, but not always) tends to come from the north (Providence area especially, as well as Boston & Springfield Mass areas) along the North Shore (generally picked up stations during tropo when I was in college at STony Brook, but have also picked them up along the North shore iN Nassau. However, where I live in SE Nassau (Massapequa) I generally DX from the South & southwest (Atlantic City & Philly especilly, sometimes Ocean City MD, & at times VA beach & even parts of N.C at times). Last night the Philly stations were coming in quite stong here. In fact depending on antenna position WDAS 105.3 actually interfered with WWPR & although rare at times WJJZ has tooken over BLI (the old PST on 97.5 has taken over WALK). A couple years ago I remember 102.7 from Baltimore taking over WNEW here

I also notice that WPRO of Providence frequently overpowers WXRK! Rarely in Nassau, but it can be noticable!

There's been nights when it comes in as good as a local in Port Jeff over WXRK.

I'm on the North Shore.
I'm upstaries with only a boombox, but have gotten WDRC nearly local, CT stuff and WEEI from RI as well.
I rememver once getting WPST 97.5 barely and also getting Philly's Q102. I also get 92.5 Country at times but not sure if its XTU or the one from CT.
All this in the past almost year or so.

Im in Monmouth County in NJ- some mornings we get WPRO overtaking WXRK. Also 107.9 from Boston will come in at the shore.
It is not unusual for WALK to overtake the NJ 97.5(formally WPST now the Hawk).
But I really like when WLNG makes it to my area. It has to be one of the most "local" stations on the dial in the northeast. Unfortunately in recent years their music selection has gotten too conservative. But I dont know anyone else with as many jingles. It seems like the station is stuck in 1962.
Edited by evalmaster on 08/19/05 03:05 PM.
