Tropo here in Sands Point, NY?

Okay here's what I got.
This is in an upstairs dorm bbedroom, with a typical sony boombox from Christmas 2000, and a teliscoping antenna. (The six-feet one) fully extended.
105.9 The River (Classic Rock). Its a class reunion weekend, and this hour, its the year 1984. Dancing In the Dark by Bruce was heard and this was in the 11:00 hour eastern.
How about 102.9 playing classic rock (no not MGK)....

It was something like ESR or ELR? It was an all request weekend, I remember hearing Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.. Don't knwo the song title but a few lyrics went... From the Moonlite... Sing the song, all day long, come and be my baby. with wide stereo from guitars and stuff.
I know it was a popular tune and have it on LP at home, but I am not at home now so....
This station also was receive during the 11:00 hour.
both Stations were heard in the early to mid part of the hour and both fading not long after being heard.
Got to hear two songs from each station.

Anyone can tell me that song and/or those stations?
I also got WBLI like a local, and that usually doesnt' get picked up here well even upstairs.

Thanks.
John

Since you got 105.9 The River from Hartford the 102.9 FM station might've been WDRC-FM. They sound a lot different since they tweak last Septemeber. They don't play anything older than 1964 any more and play music from 1964-1979. Big Hits 102.9 DRC-FM.

Suprised you were able to pick it up on 105.9 due to how close you were to 105.9 in NYC. One thing I have noticed about tropo on Long Island is on the north shore you tend to get tropo from areas to the north & on the south shore you tend to get more tropo from areas from the south.

I went to college @ Stony Brook (graduated little over a year ago) the Hartford stations pretty much always came in, but when tropo occured they were stronger as well as tropo from the Springield Mass area, Boston stations, Rhode Island stations & sometimes New Hampsiere. I live on the south shore (Massapequa) & I very rarleyreceive tropo from the north (occasionally will pick up some Hartford stations) but most of the tropo comes from southern Jersey & SE PA (mainly Atlantic City to Philadelphia, as well as sometimes picking up stations from Ocean City MMD & VA Beach VA as ell as into NC at times.
