Tropo in GVille

Getting a little DX'ing done this evening, I currently have 933 FLZ coming in like it's down the street (I usually don't). Which is surprising since KISS 105.3, 91.7 The Joy and AM-850 literally ARE down the street (less than a mile).

Anyone else pulling in some "semi-distant" stations? I have yet to grab anything really distant.

I don't know what you're getting now, BUT if the forecast maps are correct, it'll be totally ON late week where you are. Maybe more trans-Gulf stuff.

Boy, I miss living on the Gulf Coast when this stuff happens.

Alot of Gainesville/Ocala area stations are very good here in Holiday ...with antenna pointed north. Also, have WSUN 97.1, WXTB 97.9 and WDUV 105.5 down the road from me as well (within 2 mi) and of course all are HD:(

I have scanned the dial a few times this evening and still only getting FLZ, But it's still as strong as anything, getting full coverage on the signal meter.

One of our local LPFMs, WERF-LP at 95.7 is completely buried with DX from Tampa tonight. I live about 6 miles from the LPFM and couldn't hear it at all on my drive home.

Location, Location, Location... FLZ was STILL pounding in this morning, but WERF-LP was coming in all night and all morning as it usually does. I live about 4 or 5 miles from the site.

WFLZ has a strong signal to start with. That Riverview stick really kicks out.

Before 93.3/Callahan (Jacksonville) went on-the-air, 'FLZ could be heard to Gainesville on a car radio with normal band conditions.

When I lived in Beaty Towers on campus at UF, WFLZ was a semi-regular catch, as was WWRM/94.9. Then again, I lived in the 12th Floor.

WDUV, which at the time was further South on 103.3, was also listenable, until they moved to 103.5 and became obliterated by Rock 104.

The "surprises" I used to get was hearing WAMR "Amor" Spanish AC out of Miami on 107.5 from back home in my car radio while I was filling up my tank at the gas station on University and 34th. Or the day in G'ville I pulled in WEAT-FM out of West Palm and WEDR/99.1 in Miami on my GE Superadio...Turns out the jock that was on EDR that night was Maxwell St. Claire, who had just left Gainesville. The summer I went home to Miami, I pulled in WUFT on 89.1 4 blocks from my parents' house in Miami one morning, and briefly, Rock 104 in Southwest Dade county.

Some great DX'ing tonight on my little Grundig radio! All from the same place, however...

94.9 WTNT-Tallahassee

103.1 The Wolf- Tallahassee

Hot 104.9 WHTF- Tallahassee

Got a little bit from 95SX in Charleston in my car this morning as well as 106.9 WGZR in Bluffton, SC and WOKA 106.7 in Douglas, GA.
