Tropo or e-skip in Chicago

Someone on a Chicago radio messageboard experienced FM skip in the western Chicago suburbs today. He couldn't specifically ID any stations, but he said many of the local FMs were being interfered with heavily.
Anybody else in the Chicago area or the midwest catch this? I'm guessing tropo because e-skip is pretty rare although not impossible now.

This is the time of the year for tropospheric, often in all directions. Also, greater distances than usual are possible.

Yeah, several other people reported it overnight so obviously that was it.

"Tropo", I suspect, and the Cincinnati area received of good dose of it last night in advance of today's comforting cool air. 'Nothing spectacular in regards to distance, but the more-common visit from Indianapolis and central Indiana FMs—the following that found their way into adjacent channel co-existence with our locals:
91.9 WRLN [Rushville High School @600-watts]
92.3 WTTS [Bloomington]
93.1 WIBC
94.7 WFBQ
101.3 WFMG [Richmond with hideous audio]
102.5 WMDH [New Castle]
102.9 WXCH [Columbus (a Class-A @5.1KW)]
103.3 WRZX
105.7 WYXB
106.1 WWWY [North Vernon/Columbus]
107.3 [WRZQ Greensburg/closer to Columbus (a short-spaced Class-B1 @10.5KW)]
Plus the following which were not adjacent to a local station:
95.5 WFMS
97.1 WLHK
97.9 WGNR [Anderson]
99.5 WZPL
101.5 WKKG [Columbus]
104.1 WLBC [Muncie]
107.9 WNTR
All were heard well with very-little interference on a McIntosh MR-78 set to its narrow I.F. bandwidth.

I had a long drive yesterday on Illinois 47. I noticed it. Several local (Chicago and Suburban) frequencies overriden or otherwise trashed. Couldn't identify anything with certainty, however.

Yup, tropo has been confirmed by enough people now. Weather conditions were ripe for it.

That was the FM tuner I have always wanted back in the 90s; settled for an Onkyo T-9090II instead when the MR-78's price was way out of my reach. I currently use a Sony XDR-F1HD.

I'm blushing, because I've been the "proud pappy" of this "baby" since the early 80s. It's still performing PERFECTLY [as are it's companion pre-amp and power amplifier], but the venerable ole MR-78 has FINALLY met its match... A Sony XDR-F1HD – snatched up at a close-out sale price of $59.95 at Frys Electronics Superstore last Fall... 'Just don't tell Mr. Mac!
