Tropo this morning in Texas

This morning I was near Commerce, Texas and picked up a frequently strong signal from KONO 101.1 in San Antonio (about 300 miles away). I confirmed the catch through the playlist on their website. On 103.5, where I also got a strong signal, I heard an Allstate commercial that mentioned Buda and Cedar Park, so this must have been KBPA San Marcos.

Nice.

It's good to hear that someone is getting good tropo.

Our tropo season on the west coast of Florida that runs from March to June was a complete dud this year.

You guys in Texas are in a prime location for tropo much of the year.

Texas must be awesome year round for Tropo and E skip. I would love to move someday to somewhere that experiences lots of E skip and Tropo. Texas would be the state.

Yes, especially along the coast where tropo can happen to some degree every month of the year. What's really interesting is when both E-skip and tropo happen simultaneously. One summer I was in Port Aransas (northeast of Corpus Christi) and heard stations from the Rio Grande Valley, Austin/San Antonio and Houston along with E-skip from Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio and probably some other states. Everything from 88.1 to 107.9 had something on it! I could have compiled quite a log of stations, but I had to get back to fishing (which was awesome, too).
