Trple A Radio

Hey everybody! I am new to the site and enjoy reading all your posts. just wondering if anybody else would like to see a good triple a station in Connecticut. There is certainly a hole in the market for it and I think if done right it could be successful. Triple a is a growing format with many great new artists not heard on any other stations here in CT. It kind of reminds me of the old AOR format I knew when I was youmger, a good mix of old and new with a lot of deep album cuts thrown in and a heavy envolvement in the local community. I will be interested to see what you all think.

While there are no commercial AAA's in the state there are some that reach parts of the state......107.1 WXPK reaches the SW corner, 100.9 WRNX north of Hartford, and 92.9 WEHM/96.9 WEHN along the coast.

I do listen to WRNX quite often and I can sometimes pick up WRSI in Northhampton when I'm in the Enfield area. It would be great to have a triple a in the Hartford market.

And if you head further up I-91, WRSI-FM has another station in the Marlborough, VT area. I only get a weak signal of it when I visit Brattleboro, though. I think their letters are WRSY-FM.

WRSY 101.5.

The format's been around for 20-25 years, I believe. So why has it never been tried in Hartford/New Haven? I realize WCCC and WDRC-FM have been entrenched in their current formats for many years, so they weren't going to switch, but there have been format flips on several of the stations belonging to the big corporations. Does Clear Channel, CBS or Cox do AAA?

I did a little research. Clear Channel has 5 stations that could be considered AAA including WRNX in Springfield. The others are in Denver, Minneapolis, Des Moines and Tucson. CBS has 1 in Atlanta and 1 in Chicago. Cox appears not to have any. This is just my opinion but I think the best AAA stations are owned by smaller companies and are really committed to the music and the local community. Triple A has probably been the only radio format that has shown growth in recent years. I hope somebody takes a chance here in Connecticut.
