True Oldies Channel

Speaking of 91.7, I was in Martinsville yesterday & while there's zero trace of it on 37 or in the city itself, one needs only go 1 mile east of 37 on 252 before the first peeps of it start showing up. It's a flame thrower for 19 watts.

It would be better if was around 30 - 40 watts, there is some holes but I expect that for 19 watts.
A hole is around the Franklin courthouse square, buildings cause the hole. It's marginal around Whiteland, Greenwood comes in some, areas north of the hills near Kmart make it very weak.

No doubt more power would help, but it's operating with every watt it can. Don't know what limits it but I can suspect it's WJLR & WRFT, both on 91.5.

WIAU standed for the element for gold, WGAQ may not be spoken for? WIFN is used on AM station in Atlanta, close to 1070 call letters...

WAGQ calls are available. WIAU is available as well.

Also on 105.3 Anderson now.

Does anyone know how tall the WNOP AM 740 tower is in Cincinnati?

When I worked there in the mid 70's, they were about 300' tall from memory. FCC says they are 90 meters or 295' and there are 3 of them.

Yes Bob,

You are correct, WNOP towers are around 300 feet.
I found the info on them. Towers I couldn't find info on were 550 WKRC any idea?

Yep...when I left WNOP in 1975, I conveniently went to WKRC...they are each 350' tall. There are either 4 or 5...been too long to remember which.

There is no info on how tall the towers are on 1320 WCVG, and 1050 WCVX.

Bob,

Sometimes they don't show the heights on AM towers, unlike FM, TV, and some AM stations.

The oldies channel around Anderson on 105.3 and Franklin on 91.7 sounds good...

This 1 guy posted in a forum that may been from another state.

That older people will not change from there favorite brands, they may if the price is right, also sometimes there favorite brand may got bought out or went out of business over the years so there looking hard to find a good replacment. These advertisers need to research things that has changed.

These young people are going to be old 1 of these days and they will end up saying the same thing, wish I could go back 10 - 20 years. Sad to say as you get older you will begin to miss your days when you grew up. When you get old you will want to be treated good because they don't know how much longer they will get to enjoy life. All I can say is appreciate the older folks, they may teach you something someday.

Wish I would did things different when I was younger.

People say several advertisers won't advertise on a station that attracts mostly people over 54, if I owned a station and I thought this is really the case, that way the advertiser could look forward to a lawsuit filed against them.

Then maybe they would change the way they think.
