True or False: 4,680?

Nurse Jeff and I ran the airplay of "Brown Eyed Girl" through the Akbarizer* and came to the realization that KOOL has played that song at least 4,680 times during the past five years. We're scratchin' our fezes wondering if there's any other song in the KOOL library of 96 titles that has been played more often in recent history?

(* not to be confused with a Ray Vinson loan)

"Oh, Pretty Woman"- Roy Orbison, "My Girl"- Temptations, "My Guy"- Mary Wells, "Unchained Melody/You've Lost That Lovin Feelin"- Righteous Bros, "I Can't Help Myself"- 4 Tops, these have to be right up there and offer stiff competition.

Is this any way to welcome KOOL-FM's new PD (Kris Abrams from the
Citadel ABQ cluster) to town?

Of course it is!

We'd be remiss in our duties if we didn't. ;D

To add to the horribly cue-burned* titles already mentioned:

California Dreamin'
Do Wah Diddy Diddy
Happy Together
Hey Jude
I Get Around
I Got You (I Feel Good) --actually, no I don't feel good about it
I'm A Believer
I'm Into Something Good --why this wimpy song is just about the
only Herman's Hermits song they play...and play...and play...
The House Of The Rising Sun
two other Four Tops songs (you know which ones)

Many songs may be rotated in and out of regular airplay but all the ones
mentioned so far in this thread seem to be in permanent power rotation.

KOOL has great imaging, but I don't think they'd cut a liner like this:

"Unchained Melody, four times a day--every day--on KOOL 94.5!"

(*: you younger posters may need to have this term explained)

And why do those songs have a half-turn of cue burn (quarter turn for album cuts)?

Because the listeners, bless their souls, absolutely love to hear those 96 oldies again, and again, and again, and again.

4,680? Hell, I'd play that damned Van Morrison tune ten thousand times if I thought it would push KOOL back to #1.

And you would, too...

Absolutely, Ford. I'd even narrow the Playlist a bit more and turn it into a CHR-type Oldies station.

I thought you were supposed to provide witty and brainless banter over the cue burn.

Can you get cue burn on a CD?

:D

The Supremes - "Baby Love"
The Emotions - "You've Got the Best of my Love"

AT LEAST 5 times a day each.

...and don't forget "Cherokee Nation" by Mark Lindsay. Now even more Politically Correct than when it came out last century!

Thanks Ray Vinson...you saved Nurse Jeff and me at least $1,856,000 on our Media Hut mortgage. And you're open til 8pm, too!

I guess hang down your head Tom Dooly wouldn't fit

Sorry Jay, but not even on a "Lost Oldies Weekend." ;D

So when will KOOL do another LOW? It has promise for sure,
but not if they just play 2-3 other titles by an artist instead of
the one...ONE...title they burn into the ground.

Think Dave Clark Five. Used to be at least six DC5 songs heard
with some regularity on KOOL. Now? Because. That's the one
song. Because.

The DC5 has now become part of the "James Brown syndrome"
on KOOL. DJ says they're coming up next and you know darn
well what song it's going to be.

Koo FM (as pronounced by BJ Hunter) is the Wal-Mart of Valley radio. Everyone disses it, but they sure listen. And that includes Nurse Jeff and me. However we still scratch our fezes everytime they play "Beach Baby" by First Class.

The employees match the demographics. Therefore, their eyes are going bad. They think they're playing a Beach Boys cut. And their hearing is going bad as well....so they can't tell the difference!

The fellas say "Brandy, you're a fine girl."

When Brandy 'walks through a silent town,' is that Downtown Phoenix during a non-sports weeknight at 7:00? ???

We dunno, but It Never Rains In SoCal!
