Trump Administration to CNN: I want them prosecuted!

As always we end with this. Plus what did CNN do specifically to justify what's being thrown in. It is always going to end with 1st amendment issues.

If we ever get a sane government again, maybe it's time to consider some legally sound way of limiting freedom of the press -- other than clearly labeled opinion -- to reporting only verifiably accurate news.

And yes, I understand the danger in what I am advocating.

Won't happen, because Fox News, Newsmaxx, OANN and their ilk along with every religious outlet in the country would object. The last thing they want is "verifiably accurate news".

In a sane government, that would not derail it. The real stumbling block is in recreating a sane government now.

"Verifiably accurate" are words that should strike terror every time they are spoken. And who decides what is "verifiably accurate?" To rephrase an old quote, "Who verifies the verifiers?"

The story posted by the OP states that CNN is promoting an app that impedes law enforcement. Correct me if I am wrong, but that is, to the best of my knowledge, a crime.

I might just download the ICEBlock app and create a few bogus entries.
That would be wrong on such a great number of areas. The only thing that can be blocked is confidential preparation information that might endanger lives; that is the argument in the San Francisco claim that a broadcaster interferred with an ICE action that was confidential.

As to broadcasting such information, the general rule has not changed since WW II when the press might know about pending actions but did not release the information until officially given consent.

I’d be happy if people harmed by this stuff could at least have a better chance at recourse.

It’s going to be worse with AI. The Alliance Defense Fund is already suing on behalf of the Babylon Bee over a Hawaii law that sought to prevent fakes that wrongly portrayed candidates for office.

We’re getting into dark territory where everyone will have to defend themselves over things they never said or did and knowing how many uneducated people of all extremes seem to enjoy mob justice, right about now I’m saving up for a bunker.

It's the responsibility and role of free press to hold our leaders accountable. Period. The felon occupant is not an exception to that. 😡

Hopefully, CNN will never be intimidated by this administration's shameful and despicable tactics.

CNN most definitely will. With Scott Jennings and Bill Maher part of that station and the station taking a "both sides approach" their response will probably be "who knows? Maybe we should, maybe we shouldn't be prosecuted. 🤷‍♂️"

I move that they change their name to not include the word "news", if that's how they want to play.
True too and there are two entities within Fox that call themselves Fox News one is “Fox News Channel” which is a division within Fox Nation that caters to a demographic of Trump Supporters and there’s the other Fox News like “Live Now on Fox” which is managed by Fox Television Stations aka Fox Local. If there are stories Trump does not like about Fox News it’s coming from the “Live Now on Fox” one given this is the one proving Local Fox O&O’s with National news content and not as politically loaded as the the Fox Nation one.
