Trump sues Wall Street Journal, Rupert Murdoch and two reporters for Epstein letter story

With the recent releases of Epstein texts, thankfy nothing direct linked the President to this depravity. IMHO Trump was getting a little close to the fire. I hope there is nothing in FBI files that is worse. Sometimes when in business or life, you have to deal with folks that are questionable. The secret is not to "wrestle the pig". You always get mud on you.

Trump had better be careful, he might someday need Fox News support. I can think of several members of Congress (in both Parties) who would love to ruin Trump's (or anyone else's) Presidency if it paved the way for them to become President.

A good point. But sometimes the pig is nicely presented, and it takes time to realize that it is still a pig. I can count about a half dozen people I have done business with over the years who turned out later to be proven, convicted criminals and liars. At the time I did not know or suspect the bad behaviour, but fortunately never invested with them nor kept them as close friends.

That happens with every celebrity, politician and leader. I was reading about the rivals of President Garfield and learned a lot about him in the same regard...

President James A. Garfield's primary rivals were New York Senator Roscoe Conkling and the opposing Democratic Party, while he was assassinated by the delusional, disappointed office-seeker Charles Guiteau. Garfield's main conflicts were not with a foreign power, but rather internal Republican Party factionalism, primarily concerning the "spoils system" of political patronage." (Google AI)

Sound similar?

Again this puts KABC-TV Los Angeles specifically to have their license questioned over something ABC News aired in a press briefing in the White House. Previously we mentioned that KABC-TV’s license was at risk because of stuff the network aired during Jimmy Kimmel Show. Also we thought a similar situation was going to happen at the View over stuff the White House does not want aired over Charlie Kirk and Trump. This time it’s a segment about Jeffrey Epstein and Trump. It’s a case of Disney owned ABC affiliates having to consult with their legal team when Trump and FCC engages in political interference of the first amendment and the recourse ABC has to have in that situation.
President Donald Trump has called for ABC’s broadcast license to be revoked after an ABC News reporter asked why he had chosen not to release the government’s files on infamous sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“I think you are a terrible reporter,” Trump shot back accusingly during an Oval Office press conference on Tuesday after fielding what he called an “insubordinate” question. He went on to argue the broadcast licenses for affiliates of the Disney-owned ABC should be pulled during the White House presser with the Saudi Arabia crown prince at his side.I think the license should be taken away from ABC, because your news is so fake and it’s so wrong. And we have a great commissioner, chairman who should look at that,” he added in reference to Federal Communications Commission chief Brendan Carr

Of course TV networks cannot have their licenses "revoked" since they never had licenses to begin with. After the GOP took a drubbing in New Jersey, New York, and Virginia last week, some members of his own party are finally starting to challenge him and he is now showing that he is a very frustrated man.

By now they know that. But it sounds more direct to say "take their license away" than to say "revoke the licenses of the network's owned and operated local over the air TV stations."

And that has what to do with radio or TV?

But if it can't be done, then what is the purpose of saying it?
If a parent company commits certain violations, its licensed stations are in jeopardy. RKO General had to dispose of its stations due to violations by the parent tire company, General Tire, outside the United States.

Of course, we know the likelihood of this happening is somewhere in the negative number range. But the legal costs of defense and self-protection can be great, so the threat is effective.

That's my point. There are no violations.

What does one call a president of a country who makes threats against its media. A media that has done nothing but what it's constitutionally protected to do.

He's using the peoples' own money and resources against the people.

There are differing opinions. Some of use can't watch any CBS, NBC or ABC news or magazine format show because we find them so inordinately biased. The over the air media has only one side for us, the other side.

There is no fairness doctrine in this country. If there was, you couldn't have Fox News or conservative talk radio.

ABC is fully in its rights to ask any question at any media opportunity. The president doesn't have to answer. But ABC isn't violating any laws by asking questions.

What does one call a president of a country who makes threats against its media? Knowing he possesses the ability to bankrupt the media.

My bet is that they will settle. With a donation going to the president's library.

Will the president continue to do regular interviews with Fox now that he's suing the parent company.
Why would they settle if the letter was authentic and real? If anything they should counter sue trump for defamation of character for accusing them of publishing a fake letter that is actually real.

I think it is one thing to question another's opinion, but I think it's quite another to question established factual information. Unfortunately, many of today's conservatives are doing the latter.

What was Jimmy's ratings the day he came back? IIRC it was really high. I believe 49 or 48% of the voters voted against Trump. I believe ANY show on any platform would enjoy a 48% audience share.

Also we had an entire congressional hearing on this very issue that lead to this being dismissed.

A federal judge dismissed President Donald Trump’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch on Monday over a story on his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
U.S. District Judge Darrin P. Gayles in Florida wrote in the order that Trump had failed to make the argument that the article was published with the intent to be malicious, but gave the president a chance to file an amended complaint.
Trump filed the lawsuit in July, following up on a promise to sue the paper almost immediately after it put a new spotlight on his well-documented relationship with Epstein by publishing an article that described a sexually suggestive letter that the newspaper said bore Trump’s signature and was included in a 2003 album compiled for Epstein’s 50th birthday.

I swear I thought that was resolved. But then again we run into the first amendment issue with every lawsuit Trump is in with every media outlet. Yes it’s in 2026 edition of this lawsuit.

Donald Trump’s legal team has refiled its lawsuit over a Wall Street Journal story alleging that he had sent a “bawdy” letter to the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein in 2003, after a Florida judge had dismissed the case last month.

The move restarts a bombshell case that pits the US president against one of his key media allies, Rupert Murdoch.

A spokesperson for Trump’s legal team called the case, which also names the Murdoch-owned Journal publisher Dow Jones and reporters Khadeeja Safdar and Joe Palazzolo, a “powerhouse lawsuit” and said: “The President will continue to hold those who mislead the American People with Fake News and smears accountable for their actions.”

One of the Lawyers I had in the 1980s called "it legal thievery". You sue someone with a totally baseless suit. They settle rather than a lengthy and expensive trial. After legal fees FREE MONEY.

I am not a fan of Rupert Murdock but after he wins, I hope he gets to recover legal fees from Trump. It's probably good for the Republican Party that level headed Rupert owns Fox. If owned it and I sued for telling the truth, I would tell the talking heads at Fox to go after Trump and his endorsed candidates and cronies or find employment somewhere else. Also I would check to see if the Lawyers that filed this frivolous suit could be disbarred. Don't try to STEAL my money!

If you are a Trump Loyalist. I suggest you check out The Art of The Deal's ghost writer's (Tony Schwartz) interview on the People Website.

Who is the lawyer filing these lawsuits:

What is important to note (and the article makes it clear by exclusion) is that Mr. Brito has *never* won an actual victory on any of the lawsuits he has brought on behalf of the U.S. president. Instead, the parties he's sued have agreed to settle, usually for business reasons, before any cases actually go to trial. Unfortunately for those who settle, those settlements make the current U.S. president and Mr. Brito believe that they can sue more media and get more money, and, as an extra bonus, stop the offending media from talking about President Trump in a negative light. Thus far, The New York Times, The BBC, and, as far as I know, Mr. Cohen have not folded. I hope none of them do, particularly the newspaper and the BBC, but we'll just have to wait and see.
